Excommunication is "altogether foreign to biblical teachings."
It's an unbiblical Roman Catholic teaching by which "you are looked upon with the blackest contempt... being cursed and damned with the Devil and his angels."
Its origins are pagan -- supersititious Greeks and the Druids!
It's "an instrument by which the clergy attained a combination of ecclesiastical power and secular tyranny that finds no parallel in history."

Wow, that is very interesting!
I am personally convinced that disfellowshipping is biblically prophetic and that it can only be Jehovah's Witnesses who are fulfilling that prophecy.

Its actually an image, have you tried to save image?
if you are using Internet Explorer then put the mouse pointer over the awake magazine.
Then right click.
Then select "save picture as"
and save the picture.

This article looks even worse these days. Excommunication used to have something like two different levels. One was very much like disfellowshipment, the vitandi, and the other was not as serious, or tolerati. It's been a very long time since the last vitandi excommunication was enforced. And excommunication these days does not force your family to shun you.
By the way, it is very revealing that the Catholic Encyclopaedia recognizes there were ABUSES. Anyone taking bets about when such a thing will be said in an official Watchtower publication about disfellowshipment?
