Hebrews 6:18: “It is impossible for God to lie".

    Is he all powerful, then?

The Bible is God's Word because it says so.
The Bible says God cannot lie. I would assume that God's Word, the Bible, must all be true then.
That's a pretty miserable God that Christians worship.

It doesn't add up, so without getting into the Atheism debate, the Bible could not be the WORD of an omnibenevolent God.

Why would he need to lie?

OTWO-Where does the Bible say that it is God's Word? Jesus had a bone to pick with Moses'Law didn't he at Matt. 19?

    There is the "graphics"--the scriptures

there is the Logos/the ideas, utterance of God---Jesus

If God doesn't lie then we need to listen to Jesus--through the Spirit he sent.

Didn't he know that the scriptures would be messed with?

God doesn't lie --but we do.

What is weak about not lying?

I can't see a moral problem with being incapable of lying.

I do see a problem with claiming to be all-powerful if you say you can't lie. There is no way to win in this one. Either God isn't lying when saying he an't lie, which means it is wrong to believe he is all-powerful, or he is lying when saying he can't lie, which puts all the doctrine into question, since we would have realistic and correct grounds not to know whether to believe or not.

    dpg,

Are you sure that you are not arguing semantics? That is always a problem when you are reading a translation?

What is more doubtful is that an all-powerful God would have to lie---All he has to do is hire the WTS to re-write the Bible so you won't be any the wiser!

    Seriously.
