Twisted reasoning from a religion, based on the Bible, Koran, or Talmud, that is used to abuse, threaten or kill people of a different religion or another race, does not deserve to set up shop in the midst of those they hate.

What you're saying, to take out the parenthetical part, is.....

Twisted reasoning from a religion ............... does not deserve to set up shop in the midst of those they hate.

    This is IMHO correct.

However, Islam is not "twisted reasoning from a religion." Islam IS a religion. Please can all the hysterical people wrap their heads around the fact that a mosque is totally different from an Al Qaeda training camp.

    A Fascinating Fact

"Once a mosque is built, it can never be torn down. This is Islamic law. Also, it is commonly known in the Middle East that no church can ever be taller than a mosque in the same area. According to the Jewish tradition, the Dome of the Rock is built inside the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem. But the Dome of the Rock can never be taken down or moved. If a mosque is built on the site of the World Trade Center Twin Towers, that mosque can never be torn down either; the whole city of New York will be destroyed before that mosque is torn down. It will be there as a permanent reminder that 9-11 was a defeat for Capitalism. Of course, it will be also a place to celebrate the friendship of the America Muslims with other Americans who live in New York City, a place for cultural exchange and peaceful co-existence. If the proposal to build a cultural center at Ground Zero is to celebrate the freedom of religion in America (according to the advocates for the building), then perhaps an Inter-Faith Temple should have been built for that purpose, not a mosque. However, it is fascinating how issues get confused and a new US policy develops for the sake of religious freedom and the notion of peace." http://www.v-a.com/

I'm all for zoning the street a Church Zone.

Freydo- somehow the Muslims in the Middle East, Iraq in particular, don't have any qualms bombing each others Mosques..........maybe its part of their Remodeling Program to keep the heights all the same...........Flat

MSNBC just reported a NYC panel just gave the ok to build the mosque.

MSNBC just reported a NYC panel just gave the ok to build the mosque.

That was a historical board - they refused to give the old building historical status (like they did for many of the WTBTS buildings) which would have prevented the Muslims from tearing it down to build this mosque.

It is not a done deal - they still face several challenges before it can be built.

Did anybody detail the background of the leading cleric of this proposed mosque somewhere in this thread? He does not seem to me to be the "peaceful moderate" that supporters are trying to idealize.

The Muslim group wanting to build the Mosque at Ground Zero are Sufi of Whirling Dervish fame, considered the most liberal and open sect of Islam. Now an Interfaith meeting room is also planned for the Mosque.

Wouldn't it be great to have the Whirling Dervish holding hands with the Pentecostals and Glossolalia Fundamentalists dancing around the room together.

    Group hug.

Lol if a large percentage of Americans TRUELY believe that the US government and not the Mulims was behind 9/11 then what is the problem? Shouldn't they have more of an issue with government buildings being built down there?
