The problem is that you can't reason with cult victims. In the case of such e-mails, they are not reasoning with you, but they are trying to suppress their own doubts. Often, the fear of losing the argument will make them angry as well, and they direct this anger to you.

Maybe one of the reasons that they seem to be impervious to rational arguments is that the indoctrination process often takes account of many of the arguments that are likely to be presented by opposers - it is quite clever really. If I tell you that a thing is so and you trust me, when someone presents the counter argument it leaves a person with a decision to make about which version to accept. Perhaps often, unless the person concerned can and will do their own independent research, they cannot reach a conclusive decision and stick with what they already accept.
