Oh well now that explains the mysteries of the universe

It was a joke because Jews don't eat pork...

Not really. There is an astounding lack of agreement on the message. Baptists (with all their branches), Lutheran, Methodist, Catholics (with all their branches), the people that handle the snakes, the JW's, the Millerites, 7th Day, Christadelphians, Jews for Jesus, the people that think Jesus wanted them to be rich....
    Very apparent.

Well, I have to agree that many are still debating who Jesus was and his message, this is true.

That was in relation to getting to heaven, it wasn't in any way "slavery is bad". And Shelby (AGuest) says Paul wasn't inspired and just spouting off. Who do I believe?

You do the research and believe what is in your heart, we are all as full of shit as everyone else, LOL !

Orthodox Jews or Jews who otherwise remain Kosher don't eat pork. Bacon is delicious and you will pay if you try to take it from me.

That's pure BS and you kno....wait, sorry, reflex ;)

Next time you're in town I'll buy you dinner and ...one of those things we talked about that time.

Ah dude, I am a very christian christian, which means I know I am an ass and need help to stop being one, LOL !
I am not here to convert and I certainly can't lose my faith, but I love talking to people with the same view or diferent ones.

I love having my views challenged, I mean, how weak would my faith have to be to NOT defend it?

The way I see it, we can all learn from each other and, if at the end of the day that makes us better people then God ( or the flying spaghetti monster) will be happy.

I think you're confusing me with an Evangelical Christian or something similar? I'm not really a card carrying Christian (I tend towards UU,which is more humanist than anything, but I don't attend a church) and would never even try to make the argument that Christ was a deity, although I have nothing against people believing that as long as it's not practiced in a harmful or totalitarian manner.

I don't believe that Christ was any more divine than Buddha or any other religious innovator. Or do you just jump on anything or anyone you think might be Christian? I'm more into myth as it pertains to psychology than anything, which is why I study it, including Christian myth. And yes, I believe it's myth, although I believe myth is too powerful to society and to the individual to be dismissed lightly.

I'm just asking how could a Jewish man of that time period, who if he was indeed a real individual, seems to have been more bent to metaphysics and philosophy than anything, could have access to the kind of advanced knowledge you think he should have taught people? He wasn't a scientist, nor particularly scientifically minded, nor a deity from what I can tell.

I got the joke PS. I was just thinking instead of throwing all those swine over the edge he could have showed his disciples how to make pixie dust out of pig badder! Might have been helpful in healing. He didn't have to eat them to do that

Why does everyone feel so sorry for those pigs in that story? I haven't noticed it causing anyone give up eating bacon out of remorse!

I happen to love dogs, but I don't read anything good about them in the Bible much either, as they were another unclean animal in that culture and never viewed as pets...that just wasn't part of that culture.

So what? I still like my doggies.

Oh, well, who cares what he said, then, since it's so pretty much the same thing hundres of others before and after him preached?

Or do you just jump on anything or anyone you think might be Christian?

Only if she's hot. Or i'm drunk.

Myths only have the power people give them.

    He couldn't. Thats the point.
