    Weirdly l only had this conversation with some JWs on a cart the other day . l asked them if the GB had stopped making predictions about the coming of Armageddon , only to be met with blank faces and one older chap saying " l don't think that they ever did "

    Me " Yes they did , in 1975 "

    The other man , who was also older , did say something about some rumours that got out of hand among the members ( l know that this is the official line ). It transpired that both had been JWs since 1968 but couldn't remember any actual predictions . l am sure that this was said for the benefit of the young lady who was with them .

    l replied that l know a JW , in good standing , who has admitted to me that she and her , then , new husband cashed in an insurance policy and donated it to the preaching work . Obviously they never got the money back . l finished the conversation by saying that the two men must have very selective memories and advised the the young woman to look into this . l know that she probably didn't , but it was worth a try .

    For those who still argue that the Watchtower did not specifically state that 1975 would see Armageddon, consider what they did say;

    1. The 1000 year reign of Christ would start within a few years of 1968.

    2. Armageddon would come before the 1000 year reign of Christ starts.

    3. The 1000 year reign of Christ would end before the end of God’s 7th creative Day.

    4. God’s creative Day is 7000 years long.

    5. God’s 7th Day started a few weeks or months after Adam was created.

    6. Adam was created in 4026 BCE.

    So while it is true that the Watchtower did not use the words, “Armageddon will come by 1975”, these six statements are saying precisely that.

    For reference see, Watchtower, May 1, 1968, page 272, par 7, and Watchtower, August 15, 1968, page 499, par 30.
