Thanks again for yet more who took" a moment " to express that which can touch the heart for a lifetime !

Then there are those "special friends" that share your beliefs... seem to be in touch with the same wave long

as ones self. ..who know and understand you ...that speak in thoughts that move you !! One such friend

is FHN .. she took time to personalize my father and his life .....something you do not wish do yourself without

sounding foolish or boastful . A special thanks to you Heather for knowing me enough to know what to say

and how to say it. You gave me great comfort but not without some tears joy and appreciation !....

    You are welcome, Garold.

I remember how it feels to lose a parent.

"For there is hope for a tree,
When it is cut down, that it will sprout again,
And its shoots will not fail.
“Though its roots grow old in the ground
And its stump dies in the dry soil,
At the scent of water it will flourish
And put forth sprigs like a plant"

    From the book of Job.

My sympathy is with you, your family and your feelings. The influence of a Father is everlasting as MY father showed me, and as I try with my little ones.

This is a very beautiful poem and always brings me great comfort.

    DO NOT STAND AT MY
    GRAVE AND WEEP

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am the song that will never end.
I am the love of family and friend.
I am the child who has come to rest
In the arms of the Father
    who knows him best.

When you see the sunset fair,
I am the scented evening air.
I am the joy of a task well done.
I am the glow of the setting sun.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

    Dear FHN,

    thank you again

So often to convey the power and spirit of God in song or poem we turn to the awe and the

beauty of nature. But in the end inspired with faith and hope we realize even nature itself is a mere shadow or reflection of the creator God ! ~~Cal

Sorry to hear about your father. My father passed away in December. So many people on this board were very kind.

But some in my congregation also came over to my house, and brought food and hugs. It was very comforting, so I know what you mean.
