Is this an Apostate website?

When a young Scientologist starts questioning their beliefs the leaders label them an "apostate" and shun them until they get back in line with what they're taught. Same definition applies here.

I suppose it depends what one means by "apostate". In which case it is something of a rhetorical question (although given it's in the humour thread I presumed it was a joke question). I was booted out of JW a long while ago now. It took me quite a while before I would even consider reading literature which gave an alternate view of the Borg (I do like that). I wasn't brought up as a JW and becoming one caused a lot of problems for me and resulted in many years of lost contact with good friends. My own fault, but I was young and impressionable. When I left there was no internet and I wouldn't have known where to start looking for information. The WTS does an excellent job of poisoning the well when it comes to looking at literature that challenges them.

It took me a long while to put this ridiculous cult behind me, in some ways I never did and I think that's good really because I won't fall for it again. Had I realised how preposterous this cult is or the extent of the pathetic predictions and double-standards before I joined I would never have become involved. In fairness I have learned a lot from the WTS but it has been a very expensive lesson for what it amounts to.

hi homer I was getting ready for bed and snuck in for a last post on this one last night, analytical study? hmmm since it comes from a deeply biased stand point proved by the completely negative spin without let up! edited accordingly. It is done for one purpose only and that is to predjudice the reader to the wt's so yes I still stand by saying it is an alternate wt study since you are doing exactly what they do at a study. taking the wt artical and answering it's points abet with your negative spin.

And now having to (on other forums) increasingly deal with acolytes from either this forum or Jwfacts that just quote old wt's as debate points with no personal opinion ewww and you accuse Jws of cult mind control! As a Jw I was never taught to memorise wt and quote it as the anti-witness ones that are cropping up lately do, we just see them as the non-opinion wt cut-n-pasters, they really have zero credibility and readers who aren't witnesses are put off by this as well.

For the sake of us that like a good scriptural debate on other Jw forums I could wish this trend would stop :s.

This site by your own admission renaiaa presents " hmmm since it comes from a deeply biased stand point proved by the completely negative spin without let up ... It is done for one purpose only and that is to prejudice the reader to the wt's" Is not the definition of what the WTBS declares "apostate information" the same ? You trying to rationalize your participation is laughable and disingenuous. Either you believe in the all the WTBS tenants or you don't. Is not their rule Reniaa? (there are many examples here where they have shunned others for disagreeing with just one teaching of the FDS) Since you profess that you indeed do believe in the tenants of the WTBS I again ask why are you here? This board is not a study of Wt Literature, This board in large part is meant to provide support to those of us that have decided that the WTBS is wrong.

edit : again you lie " a Jw I was never taught to memories wt and quote it as " not only are you encouraged to do so the governing body does so (COC makes this point eloquently)

This site is the way to truth, Apostasy can only be found through the murderous lies of the WTS

Renaii please respond to these watctower quotes, It seems that the WTBS actually condemns your posting here. It condemns " alternate wt study"

Modern computers have opened other avenues to bad association. Some commercial firms enable subscribers using a computer and a telephone to send a message to electronic bulletin boards; a person can thus post on the bulletin board a message that is open to all subscribers. This has led to so-called electronic debates on religious matters. A Christian might be drawn into such debates and may spend many hours with an apostate thinker who may have been disfellowshipped from the congregation.
    (The Watchtower 1993 August 1, p. 17)

The Society has received reports that such so-called private networks have been used not only to speculate regarding spiritual matters but also to give bad advice, spread gossip and false information, plant negative ideas, raise questions and doubts that subvert the faith of some, and disseminate private interpretations of Scripture. On the surface, some information may appear to be interesting and informative, and yet it may be laced with poisonous elements... Computer networks extend worldwide and can bring unlimited valuable information into the home or workplace. They offer much-needed services to businesses and organizations as well as to individuals who need to keep pace with personal or business interests in the fast-moving society in which we live. At the same time, computer networks are plagued with problems such as pornography, divisive hate propaganda, and detailed information on how to perform vile and wicked deeds.

...the non-opinion wt cut-n-pasters, they really have zero credibility...

I guess I can agree with this, quoting the Watchtower provides zero credibility. After all, it's just a publishing company that's trying to sell more books and magazines. It really is the opinions that add credibility to the Watchtower. It really is the facts that add credibility to opinions.
