    Jeff:

Oh well, turkey makes me sleepy. At least it did last evening at dinner.

I'm cooking some now and hoping it'll put me to sleep! There's something in it that does it every time - triptasomethingerother ...

    Mrs.Jones5:

Most of the kids eat their ice cream first.

Those kids are smarter than their years - how lucky are you, Mrs. J., to be in their company!

    Thanks!

    Never !

An eating establishment near my abode specialises in various sticky, sweet & otherwise delicious offerings under the excuse of them being "all day breakfast" items.

Ricotta Hotcakes with home-made butterscotch sauce, fresh banana and in-house vanilla gelato.......yum!!!!!

Or substitute the hotcakes with Sticky date pudding.......

CoCo, you just cracked me up with your ennui-inducing food!

HA!!! Oatmeal is not ennui-inducing... oatmeal can be a gift of the gods... with enough butter and cream and a bit of brown sugar... (don't mind me, I'm just fantasizing as right now I'm limiting my CARBS!!! Ha!)

Ha, CoCo, leave it to you to ask such a question, yet you have no idea how profoundly WISE it is!

There are actually very good biological reasons for eating desserts first. It's called Proper Food Combining.

    1. Desserts and Sweets (sugars) break down in digestion the FASTEST of all other foods.

    2. Carbs come 2nd and take a bit longer.

    3. Proteins come 3rd and take the longest to digest.

You should eat all meals in that order.

You would not want to eat protein first and eat sweets/desserts immediately on top of that because then the desserts cannot digest (the protein is in the way trying to be digested) and what you end up with are horrendous toxins being created in your system via "fermentation" and "putrefaction" because proteins and sweets require different digestive enzymes for each particular food type to be digested.

If you want to get healthier and lose a few pounds without really trying, just following simple "Food Combining" will do the trick.

    ------------------------

Here are examples of Food Combining Charts:

    --------------------------

It is much more simple than it might look.

Never combine protein and sweets or carbs.

Eat sweets/sugars/fruits By Themselves, don't mix with anything except "neutral" foods like lettuce and celery.

Ditto for carbs and proteins, don't mix them, but individually they can also be eaten with "neutrals" like lettuces and celery.

The motto is "A MONO MEAL IS THE IDEAL."

(because it eases the load in your digestion to only have to digest one type of food at a time).

Another is "Eat MELON ALONE or Leave it Alone."

(because melons are much lighter than other fruits, and made of mostly water, so even adding a heavier fruit to melon will impede digestion).

The name of the game is Good Digestion.

Fat buildup is nothing but undigested food (toxic).

    ---------------

Here's a Food Combining list that gives more details as to the WHY this or that doesn't combine well. This is from "my people" (Natural Hygienists such as Herbert Shelton and Virginia Vetrano):

For the industrious, there are courses you can take on Natural Hygiene to learn more:

For the not-as-industrious, plenty of articles and books on NATURAL HYGIENE and Food Combining around the internet and its various associations, doctors, fasting retreats, etc.

For a little humor to wind this up, a number of years ago I saw Dolly Parton on TV and she said she always eats her dessert first. She wasn't talking about Natural Hygiene I suspect, but you have to admit, that lady has ONE TINY WAISTLINE and tons of energy! ;-D

Thank you for the quintessential examination of what goes with what!

It is shortly after 1:00 a.m. and I caved to an admixture of carbs and protein: soup and sandwich (le biftek).

    Old habits die hard.
