I actually heard an elders wife refer to the darkies in the congregation in the kingdom hall once!
There was a older sister in one hall that I attended who used the proper word, "negro" but pronounced it "negra" with the a short "e". In conversation it sounded a lot like another word that started with "n" and wasn't proper. The first time I heard her use it, I thought she actually was calling the black friends a derogatory name.

What amazes me is that people can not seem to distinguish between words and meanings behind words. Words in and of themselves have no meaning. Concentrating on words is ignoring the issues. But, I'll step off of my soap box for now and get busy.
