Crazyblondeb, I'm sorry to hear about your experiences with your step dad....

But, I am CHILLED when I read "I need to call Brooklyn to see if he's on the list...."! OH MY GOD! You mean they have a LIST of these sick bastards??? Why isn't the attorney general of the United States confiscating all of the records of the WTBS in an effort to obtain this list and round up those sick bastards???? WTF? What can we do to get the law involved? Does anybody on this site think that an online petition might work? Seriously guys. I don't know how to organize such a thing, but it might be worth it.

I applaud you. I've been out of JW for a long time. I never realized this kind of thing was a problem. I was lucky. I now see that it is the perfect place to "hide".

My mother just died recently. I have been going through all her personal belongings and I have found several newspaper clippings about pedophilia within the JWs. Very interesting.

You are a brave woman. I hope all the best for you. I hope for resolution for you.

"I need to call Brooklyn to see if he's on the list...."!

    THOSE WERE HIS EXACT WORDS!!

I wish we could do something about that list. But, I'm sure it would "disappear" if it ever came down to that!!

When they appoint you they now ask "Have you ever been involved in molestation or pedophilia?". The question is along those lines but it is paraphrased. Anyways, when they appointed him they should have asked that question. If he said yes, they should have already known. Since they didn't know, he either wasn't asked or didn't respond truthfully. If he lied to them, I think they would view that as a big deal (aside from the fact that pedophilia is a much bigger deal, but lying insults them and he may get a much more merciless reaction when combined with the disgust the other elders also will most likely feel).

    UPDATE:

They met with him. He admitted it.

I was told "they are handling it".

Meaning (my take on it)......you are DF"D.....

All I care is THEY KNOW....and now it will follow him.

I do feel better. Thanks for all the support and PM's........

I feel like this victory isn't just mine....it's OURS!!

i am so proud of you. You did it for the children. That is what it is all about, helpless children who look up to adults.

I'm not sure what " handling it" means. It could mean several things, ie, that he is just removed from his position or given private reproof. I have heard them say these kind of things, ie, if some time has passed since the sin, etc. however , this is not sin, it is a crime. I hope they df him but try to not get thrown if they do not. maybe with "the list" they will be more afraid. I would think with this being such a hot topic they would remove anyone who admitted to it .

I, like many others here am interested in that "List" and all it's implications.

Just how proactive can a semi-secret list be? And why would he suggest you check with NY. You think he would have made that call himself and asap.

You did good Shelly, but I suspect we will continue to learn sordid details of the WTBTS incompetence in dealing with these cases for years to come.

I know he ( the elder) did call........

One of the times I spoke with him, he told me several times, that if I wanted to press legal charges, they could NOT be a party to that, has "this was confidential". I didn't care about that. I told him I had already checked into that years ago, and the statue of limitations had expired.

When I spoke with him another time, he asked "exactly what happened" and I gave him details.

I PRAY ....ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST.............

    Shelly,

The elder might think not, but the precident set in the Simenthal case shows that the elders MUST testify. No clergy BS is allowed for them. He is dead wrong. Thank God (or whoever) that the legal system is catching up to these bastards.

    JK

    p.s. Congratulations on your quest
