    For Xena and Billygoat....

When you're from Texas, people that you meet ask you questions
like, Do you have any cows?" It's nice to be able to say yes.
They ask you, "Do you have horses?" Yup.
"Bet you got a bunch of guns, eh?" Of course.
They all want to know if you've been to Southfork. They watched Dallas.

Have you ever looked at a map of the world? Yes you have. Look at
Texas for me just for a second. That picture, with the Panhandle
and the Gulf Coast, and the Red River and the Rio Grande is as much a
part of you as anything ever will be. As soon as anyone anywhere in the world looks at it they know what it is. It's Texas. Pick any kid off the street in Japan and draw him a picture of Texas in the dirt and he'll know what it is. What happens if I show you a picture of any
other state? You'll get it maybe after a second, but who else would?
Even if you do, does it ever stir any feelings in you?

In every man, woman and child on this little rock the Good Lord
put us on, there is somewhere in them a person who wishes just once he
could be a real live Texan and get up on a horse or ride in a pickup. Did you ever hear anyone in a bar go, "Wow...so you're from Ok-la-homa.
    Cool.
Tell me about it?! There is some bit of Texas in everyone.

Do you know why? Because Texas is Texas.
Texas is the Alamo. Texas is 183 men standing in a church, facing
thousands of Mexican nationals, fighting for freedom, who had the
chance to walk out and save themselves, but stayed.

We send our kids to schools named William B. Travis and Bowie and
do you know why? Because those men saw a line in the sand and they
    decided to be heroes.

John Wayne paid to do the movie himself.

    That is Texas.

Texas is Sam Houston capturing Santa Ana at San Jacinto.
Texas is Juneteenth and Texas Independence Day.
Texas is huge forests of Piney Woods like the Davy Crockett National Forest.
Texas is breathtaking mountains in Big Bend.
Texas is shiny skyscrapers in Houston and Dallas.
Texas is world record bass from places like Lake Fork.
Texas is Mexican food like nowhere in the world, even Mexico.
Texas is larger-than-life legends like Willie Nelson and Buddy Holly,
Earl Campbell and Nolan Ryan, Denton Cooley and Michael DeBakey,
    Lyndon Johnson and George Bush.
Texas is great companies like Dell Computer and Compaq.
Texas is huge herds of cattle and miles of crops.
Texas is skies blackened with doves and leases full of deer.
Texas is a place where cities shut down for the Cowboys on Monday
Night Football and the streets are deserted during church.
Texas is beaches, deserts, lakes and rivers, mountains and prairies.

If it isn't in Texas, you don't need it. No one does anything bigger
    or better.

By federal law, Texas is the only state in the U.S. that can fly
its flag at the same height as the U.S. flag. Think about that for a
second. You fly the Stars and Stripes at 20 feet in Maryland, or
California, or Maine, and your state flag, whatever the heck it
is, goes at 17. You fly the Stars and Stripes in front of Pine Tree High in Longview at 20 feet, the Lone Star flies at 20 feet.

Do you know why? Because we place being a Texan as high as being
    an American down here.

Our capitol is the only one in the country that is taller than the capitol building in D.C. We signed those in as part of the deal when we came on. The Republic of Texas. All of that makes you proud to be
    Texans.

An Oklahoman's definition of Texas: "our largest zoo"

Just remember if it were not for Tennessee there would be No Texas! All the great patriots that fought for the Republic of Texas were Tennessee boys (Houston, Austin and Crockett, plus scores of Tennesseans who migrated to settle Texas)

Texas women are generally HOT! GOD BLESS TEXAS!

Don't forget the cowpies as large as garbage can lids....or the rednecks who drag minorities to death behind pickup trucks......or the tornadoes and trailer park magnets....or the goofy cadillacs with bull horns and stupid looking ten gallon hats and snake skin boots....or (should I stop here)

By the way, I am so distrurbed about the 12 year old girl story that I cannot strike or break anything here at work, so I am forced to find a conflict in another way to vent my aggressions.

Therefore, everyone knows if you want a real fight, start one in TEXAS. So that's what I did...sorry it's been a pivotal day....

    Closer,

There is a bumper sticker I've seen that says, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could." That's definitely ME! I was raised on the beaches of Hawaii and the hills of Missouri, but Texas is now HOME! Why? For numerous reasons, but here are the main ones:

Friendliness - people always want to help and encourage and be a good neighbor.

Food - the best BBQ, Mexican, and sushi all within a mile of my house!

Cleanliness - Texas highways are some of the cleanest you'll see in the nation. And the wide open spaces feels so roomy!

Weather - summer's may be hotter than Hades, but the springs and autumn's are beautiful and winter's are not really bad.

There are so many other reasons, but yes, I'm proud to be a Texan! Even though I don't have cows, horses, or guns. I have been to Southfork! Texan's definitely "do" everything big down here. Texans love life and everything that comes with it. Texans have passion and personality! I think that describes me pretty good!

Why do Oklahoma's license plates say "Oklahoma is OK?"

    Because they can't spell "mediocre".

Nytelocom-----not boobies (some individuals in Texas however, are world class) --it's BIG HAIR - you really are from New York , arent you?

Utopian Reformist--- Don't say "Redneck" with your mouth full of groceries, son." Redneck" is not "Racist". "Cowboy is not interchangable with "redneck" as many seem to misuse the term today.
I have experience with cow pies : the largest are found in Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio, Upstate New York and the Dakotas. Buy the way, when I smell cow shit I smell MONEY!

Trailers parks--- Florida has the lock on those---full of retired NEW YORKERS, also more "working cowboys" in the State of Florida than Texas by IRS tax data.
Tornados---- Indiana, with Oklahoma --usually a 1-2 tie

"start a real fight" ---Mess with any mans hat or step on his boots anywhere west of Michigan you are looking for trouble!

Side Point----There are as many or more KKK members living in the NE and Upper Midwest

Generally stereotyping Texans, southerners or westerners as "Rednecks" is about as stupid as calling all New Yorkers "@$$holes," "White trash" can be found in all 50 states.
