I thought it might be nice for each of us to tell about our relationships with famous people. Here is how I was best friends with John Wayne.

He has been gone for almost thirty years now, and boy do we ever miss him. Where are you when we need you most Duke? Anyways, let me tell you how I became best friends with John Wayne. Anyways, anyone that knows about John Wayne should know that he was an avid sailor. He owned a lovely boat named the The Wild Goose. One day, as a friend of a friend of a friend of a 2nd cousin's friend was walking along the pier, none other than John Wayne was passing by at the helm of the The Wild Goose. So, this friend of a friend of a friend of a 2nd cousin's friend raises his right hand and waves at John wayne and asked him, "How you doin'?" And John Wayne waved back and said, "Purty Good."

And that my dear friends is how I was best friends with John Wayne....LOL Sorry I couldn't resist!

I had a much closer relationship to Richard Nixon than you to The Duke......While in the USAF, Nixon flew into our base and we were allowed down on the flight line to see him. I saw Ray Romano and Brad Garrett yesterday. I did a thread on it this morning. They are in town for a show, and were at the casino where we were. Not best friends though.

Closest I came to being friends with a celebrity was Mark Victor Hansen, co author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. We worked with the same company and he was at all of our events, and very available to talk anytime. I had breakfast with him in Hawaii, and had my picture taken with him too at another event in Phoenix. About 3 years later, I saw him at the Las Vegas airport and yelled to him, and he called to me by name. Great guy.

My son hangs out with Big Kenny's ( of Big and Rich ) son, Lincoln.

Lynyrd Skynyrd are personal friends.

Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society and Ozzy Osbourne is my kids' Uncle Zakk.

Kid Rock is Bobby.

I got to meet or get to know a few well-known people.... I met Kim Clijsters, my tennis idol , I had a brief exchange with Noam Chomsky in an elevator, I met Michael Dukakis and Daniel Inouye (senator) in 1990 or so, I went to high school with a minor actress (I won't say who because then you'd know the high school, but I knew her pretty well, mainly because I had a good friend who had a crush on her), my bf has been quite good friends with () and pe (Skywalker Ranch guy who started and Battlebots), so we have spent a good deal of time together -- even talking about Bible stuff over dinner or riding y together. I saw some celebs up close without actually interacting, like Chelsea Clinton, Sylvester Stallone (whom I took a pic of), Tom Selleck, and lately, Chris Noth from Law and Order whom I got to watch working out in the gym.

I am best friends with Jack Nicholson. One time at a Bob Dylan concert in LA, I was in my seat at the Greek Theatre and Jack and a couple of friends came in and sat down 3 rows behind me.

Yes, I guess that makes me bestest of friends with Mr. Big!! His gf Tara Wilson was also there, and I saw a tender moment when he rested his head on her tummy ... she was showing and gave birth three months later to their son Orion.
