It's ALWAYS fun in Texas!!
Nina
Damn this is going to be fun! I'm trying to get up there that weekend, but life keeps trying to get in the way. Saturday is my mother in law's 50th birthday, so I have to be there for that. We're driving to Livingston,Tx for that. I need to figure out how far Dallas is from Livingston to see if it's feasible. Taking off work is no problem, now I just have to convince my not-so-enthusiastic wife. She's a sweetie, really, just a bit unsure. Either way, I need to start planning for the Austin apostotube.
Mapquest or Yahoo Maps can be our friend...
approx 229 miles
approx 3.5 hrs drive time....unless you drive like IP...then...aw hell you'll be here in no time at all!!

Crashfire: I have a 3 1/2 hour drive myself. I may stay Saturday night, but have to leave the party early to go home. Have to work the next day.
I am bringing my husband. He too is Not-so-enthusiastic. I haven't spoke to him in 24 hours. Is your wife an ex-JW?
My husband is not an ex-JW, and doesn't understand the big deal. And frankly doesn't give a damn. (He didn't say that, but it's a fact).
I told him, I go to all of his little family events, I have no association with my family. So the least he could do was go with me. I told him to remember there would be food. He likes food. I just didn't tell him what kind. LOL He was passive aggressive, but said he was going.
If your wife is not an ex-JW, maybe we could get them together, in a corner, to discuss how disfunctional all of us are. To let some religion rule our life, before and after. P.S. My husband is old enough to be her father.

They will be right there with my kiddos...lol It will be fun!

Tell your hubby I am coming from England and he will be misisng out big time if he doesnt come! LOL!
I can sympathise - my ex of just a few weeks now didn't really get it - but then he's never been dumped by all his friends and family for the rest of his life. We have to acquire new family to satisfy our emotional urges.
Family have in common shared experiences. So by hooking up with people with our shared experience it is the closest replication we can have of family.
You know what I never ever felt this excited about going to meet with brothers and sisters at a convention etc. The difference is that was all a facade - you could never say what you really thought or felt. We can all be completely honest and open with each other.
I was thinking this morning on the way to work after a quick chat with Decki how cool its going to be sitting amongst people I already truly like and feel I know more about than I knew anyone in my hall.
16 days and I will be just taking off from London Gatwick on my 15 hour trip to get there!

Just got done wading through all 15 pages of this thread and I must say I'm appalled at all you 'postates.
This event clearly can't have Jehovah's blessing.
1. You don't have a "Recommended Lodging List"!!!
2. Nor have you budgeted for comping the expenses for some Patterson/Walkill/Brooklyn drone to fly down and give a "special talk".
3. Where are the attendant's/watchmen to keep an eye on any JW sympathizers who might slip in?
4. All this kilt talk! And hottubs! Clearly all the talks you heard on modest dress and grooming when you were a dub were wasted breath.
5. The food you're bringing doesn't sound like it will fit neatly beneath your seat.
I'm gonna stop right there.
'Cuz my Aposta-envy is gettin' the best of me. Wishin' I could be there. Maybe someday.
Have a great time everyone!

p.s. I know! Maybe us faders can organize a "Fader-palooza" and we'll all wear brown bags over our heads. Hmmmmmmmm..................
On second thought..............maybe not.
What's all this talk of FaderFests? Doncha know the beer just makes the paper bags soggy!
