i am about to book a flight - but I need advice pronto re hotel.

FAQ: Which Hotel Should I Stay At?

Nina Posted:The Hilton Garden Inn (7516 Las Colinas Blvd., Irving, TX 75038, telephone 972/444-8434) is the closest hotel to Party Central, i.e., Elsewhere's apartment complex. Their rates are really good: $71 per night if you pay in advance and $79 per night gets you a full breakfast too. I left a message for their sales director to call me about group rates, but I'll bet we won't get any better than this. You can make reservations online at www.lascolinas.stayhgi.com or on the Hilton Hotels website.

I would strongly recommend everyone stay at this hotel as it is the closest to "Party Central", is very nice and has the best price.

I would say it is "walking distance" for anyone from a place like New York (about 3/4 mile).

For everyone else, we have plenty of parking in the vicinity of the apartment complex.

Awe shucks this is getting more and more tempting. I was thinking about not coming since Sunday is usually when I come back to AR when going to Dallas but I guess I could take the Monday off.

LRG - You HAVE to come! Crumpets don't come to America often!

LT - Only 6 weeks! sooooo exciting! It is going to be legendary I reckon!

Elsewhere - thanks for the PM. I don't think you really want me to sit on your lap - lol. I am a BIG girl and it might break! I am staying at a different hotel further away on the Sunday night, but keep a cab number handy for me and put me in one when its time to go. I tend to linger longer than I ought!

    Um, huh? Wuh?

Oh, right! If fatfreek says it; it must be so. Quentin and I will probably car buddy the ride together.

    Count me in!

Yes, but watch out for Texas drivers when crossing the street!

    Yes, he does!

Alright, it's time to start thinking about food. (Mmmmm, food . . .) IPSec is bringing the mudbugs, right? Along with that we will need a large bag (think Sam's Club size) of potatoes, corn on the cob (preferably the ones cut in half -- easier to pick up and eat), onions and maybe some hot links. WARNING: The first batch of crawfish is the mildest -- the flavors intensify with each succeeding batch until that corn will light your lips on fire with the first bite!

I'll probably make my usual baked ham and bring a couple of rotisserie chickens, for those who don't dig the mudbug experience.

People who live around here: think of what you want to make/bring: salads, potato salad, beans, desserts, etc. If you have a large cooler, that would probably be helpful to hold cold drinks. If you have any long folding tables, we could use those too, as well as newspapers to spread out on the tables for the mudbugs.

People from out of town: think about bringing drinks, rolls, plates, napkins, cutlery, a package of hot dogs and buns, chips, salsa, ice, paper towels, plastic cups, etc. There are several grocery stores in Elsewhere's neighborhood.

People from the United Kingdom: You HAVE to eat this stuff with your fingers -- there is absolutely no way to use a knife and fork. Sorry about that.

This is very much a potluck kind of party and great fun!! I wish my friend Margaret was coming -- she makes a killer guacamole -- but she will be up at her cabin in Oklahoma throwing a "Drinko del Mayo" party.

And don't forget your swimsuits! There's a pool AND a hot tub!

Don't worry! I always eat with my fingers. And I lick my plate clean too!

I have no clue what I am bringing. I have to think on that. I most assuredly will bring something tho. Most likely something like Salsa, Avacado Pie or a big bunch of "I don't have a clue yet." I tend to be a mood cooker. So let me think on it.
