There are evil spirits and people that get involved with them through magic and Devil/demon worship do end up having serious emotional problems, those malign entities are very real. All mainstream religions are dead against occult and demonic contact.
Spoken like you personally know this to be true. This is ridiculous. I am pagan. I know LOTS of people who are pagan. Some of them are professionals, some of them are blue collar, some are more hippies and work retail or other things. The only ones I know with serious emotional problems are those on the fringes. The vast majority live very happy peaceful lives. In fact, a lot of pagans are pacifists (not all), and believe that whatever energy (bad or good) you put out into the world will come back to you three-fold.
I personally hold down a job with a respected company, pay my taxes, etc. The magick we do is in the form of a more interactive type of prayer with our higher power(s), and is usually for protection, for healing, or something along those lines. We don't believe in Satan or the demons. They are of judeo/christian construct. In my years of practice I have had no bad experiences with evil entities, nor do I personally know of any pagans that have. I subscribe to many list-servs which provide pagans a chance to interact and talk about things. This has not once been a topic of discussion on any of them.
This is a stereotype that persists despite fact, and it is time someone called BS on it.

Dear Wanderer,
Yes I believe there are evil spirits and I had experiences when I was younger which I truely believe happened. After I left the JW's in my mind for good it all stopped.
I posted on another thread my experiences and after reading that entire thread, came to the conclusion that some of the fears and experiences might be due to suggestion, but not all.
My parents bought a home from drug dealers unbeknownst to them when I was just 6 months old. When they unlocked the door after the closing, the place was filthy there was dried food all over the walls, on the floors etc. It took my mom weeks to get it cleaned up with me in a playpen. She didn't dare let me crawl around.
The house had problems.......and I mean of the paranormal variety.
When my husband and I moved here we put a deposit on a beautiful home, the price was very low and was being sold by the bank, not the owners. There was a strange feel that made your hair stand on end, but we both just ignored it. (Mind you my husband is not or ever was a JW) but he felt it too. After we had gone to see it several times and were able to really look at it... (it was empty) we discovered hidden passage ways under the house behind bookshelves and a complete hidden room beyond the master closet with camera jacks, and a sound system and phone lines. I did some research on the home and found out it was owned by a huge ring of drug dealers who were presently in jail. They had kept some woman chained up under the house until she was finally able to escape and inform the police.
Needless to say, we got out of the contract and got our deposit back.
Again I will state I believe in Diabolical beings and that places can be haunted.

So where do you make the leap from acknowledging there was creepy atmosphere, where you knew something "wasn't quite right" about the house, discovering the secret room, and paranormal forces? Surely we humans can sense when "things arn't right" - I call it intuition - information gathered from the peremiters of our conciousness until we can no longer ignore it as "fuzz" - if you know what I mean. But still, why do you make the huge leap from all this into paranormal activity? Were you witness to anything in the house that went beyond just giving you a creepy feeling?
I ask this because I too, have been witness to many creepy things and places - much like what you described above. However, you state you knew the situation (drug dealers, kidnappers, etc.) and still choose to believe there must be something paranormal to account for the creepiness. There are many times I've been scared shitless, but looking back I can see there was absolutely nothing that was evidence for paranormal activity.
I do believe that there are spirit entities that have ill will toward humans. I enjoy reading the writings of spiritual "sages" and teachers of other religions (namely Buddhist, and Hindu). I have noticed that most spiritual teachers (that I have read) from the major religions have discouraged their students from getting involved in acts related to occultism, sorcery, and other spiritistic activities. They have warned their students about opening themselves up to the influences of "astral entities" which seek to harm humans.
At the same time; I know first-hand how powerful the mind can be in creating halucinations and immagined experiences that seem quite real. When I first left the organization, I worried about demonic attacks. When falling asleep on several occasions; I immagined that there were entities in my room watching me. I thought that I felt an energy hovering over me. It was really scary. However, I simply prayed, and kept telling myself that this was my immagination. Eventually, these "experiences" became fewer and farther between. Now, I do not have these experiences anymore.

All mainstream religions are dead against occult and demonic contact. If this is true, then I would be suspicious that the occult and demonic contact had the answers to life, as I suspect our handlers try to keep us in the dark.
I have experienced enough to convince me that these things exist.
