Dansk - So glad that you are doing so well!!

Anaemia is a side effect of some chemotherapy also. Without blood transfusions recovery can be more uncomfortable.

Though it is possible to treat cancer patients without blood transfusions, the side effects can be far more dangerous without the back up of blood.

BUT ... I do remember a very negative Watchtower or Awake article on blood treatment for cancer patients which said that such patients were far less likely to survive treatment than those who had not received blood. I think it was from a medical study in Canada. But, not all medical studies draw correct conclusions. Even so, it was still fully quoted in the back of a mag.

    From http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/leukaemiachronic.htm

leukaemia (blood cancer) is a disease where the bone marrow produces large numbers of abnormal white cells.

Milder degrees of bone marrow failure might adequately be controlled by periodic blood transfusion.

    http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/leukaemiaacute.htm

The normal bone marrow is sensitive to chemotherapy and the blood counts may drop, making the patient vulnerable to infection and bleeding. This generally means that the patient has to remain in hospital for weeks following chemotherapy. However the blood counts will recover over time. Blood transfusions are likely to be given during this vulnerable period.
