    "Buy quantity, not quality"

I buy the same quality of products I'd buy at other stores, name brands. Why would I pay $15 for the same Nivea COQ10 at the grocery store when I can pay $9 something at Wal-mart. That would be like throwing $5 down the toilet. $5 I can't afford to throw away.

People will drive across town to save $100 on a sofa. Why is $5 not as important. A dollar saved is a dollar saved. Every dollar is valuable.

Just buy North American and sell to North Americans.

Everybody here would have a GM, Ford or Chrysler and they would be making lots of money.

Same thing with clothing, make it here and sell it here.

    Everybody would work

And what about all the American workers who produce exports? What if we could no longer sell our software, airplanes, movies, and music to the rest of the world? Millions of Americans would be out of a job.

Trade produces growth. You and I have different talents and resources, and if we were the only two people on earth, we would be better off trading than trying to be self-sufficient. The same is true of families, clans, towns, regions and countries.

Do you believe that any state in the union would be better off if it didn't trade with the rest of the country? Then why believe that any country is better off not trading with the rest of the world?

Well, somebodies go to supply stores with products, since they won't be getting any from China, India and Mexico, right? I can't count the times people looked all over our gift shop for something made in the USA. I'd say 2% of our products were from the USA. If suddenly we couldn't sell imports, we'd have to buy all those exports.

I shop there b/c i'm poor and have no choice. I do not believe all the wal-mart bashing, anyhow. I 've seen the documentries, they sound like a poorly put together attempt at a conspiracy scandal. I also shop at the Dollar store, which I know does not make me a prestigious shopper, but it is all we can afford.(they have great buys on laundry ,pet food and toliet items) The wal-mart I shop at is clean, employees are polite and I have no complaints. If you don't like wal-mart , there are so many options, why bash a corporation. They are just doing business.

thank God for Wal-,mart I can feed and clothe my family.(with a little help from the dollar store too)

Yes, Walmart is evil, and I have a unique perspective. First, I used to work in the WalMart cult, and, yes, it also is a cult. Anyone want to actually see it, go to Bentonville, AR. The wives of the HQ people aren't "encouraged" to work and should stay home, raise babies and volunteer in the community to give Walmart a good name. You are "encouraged" to go to church (Christian only please), stay with the Walmart crowd, and in general, devote your life to the company. Forget raises or promotions if you don't. They pay and treat their employees with about as much respect as they show their consumers.

By the way, ever wonder why a Sanyo TV is so much less at Walmart? Because it isn't the same one at Best Buy or where ever. They are cheap knockoffs. Walmart strong arms it's vendors into producing the lowest price stuff it can, they actually do dictate price to the vendors. Why does this matter to you? Because they are causing prices to go up everywhere else! Ever notice that Oscar Meyer bacon is way more expensive at the grocery store than any other brand? Because Walmart "owns" Kraft and dictates price to them. They then have to make up their differences everywhere else they sell it. This causes loss of competition, and once Walmart has a strangle on the market, they raise prices anyway!

Consumers must make government stop Walmart form killing our economy. They are the number one leech on us right now, and people need to get more educated about it. They are already crossing so many employment and fair trading practices laws that it boggles the mind.

But, where else are you going to shop? Everything else is going out of business!

There's a similar debate been going on in the UK recently about whether the increase in supermarkets coupled with their stocking wider ranges of goods (eg electrical items) is going to put small corner shops and specialist shops out of business.

One theory goes that they'll put all the small competition out of business by grossly undercutting prices and using 'loss leaders' then when the small ones are gone, they will hike their prices.

FHN most of the gifts in our shop are shipped in from the USA - but most of them are made in China!

I think the Wally-World is not good for the US economy in the long run. They have sped the rush to export jobs out of country.

I have an inside understanding of how they make the business run - I will not elaborate at this time -

I do shop there too - for the economic reasons listed - but I still believe in the long run WMT and it's cousin big box stores will bring the macro economy to it's knees.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Jeff
