One of the worst things that a lot of people are scared of, is terrorism. Its an invisible enemy, to be honest i've stopped watching the news since it just got me down.

At a convention at the Manchester Evening News Arena (used to be Nynex Arena) in Manchester, there was a briefcase found. No one claimed it and in the end it was thought to be a possible bomb. After that and possibly before i also know that the bro's and sisters were asked to label their things.

This bag was blown up safely by the Bomb Squad but one thing a brother did and said stuck with me.

He came on the platform and announced this but he said something like "if you could remain in the auditourium"...i mean wtf, we thought we were gonna die!!

I remember it well! About 1996-97? I can recall thinking that bro' was a TOTAL jerk because it was announced from the convention platform for the owner of the missing briefcase to come and collect it so as to prevent a bomb scare, but the prat didn't. Apparently when the bomb squad blew it up after evacuating us all, there was an explosion of bible pages all over the place. Some people eh?

    Peace

Yeh! He was a prat, wasn't just me i thought of either. I dunno what the society would do if it had of gone off, folks got hurt or worse and it turns out it could been prevented but a 'brother' said wait.

I remember that bomb scare ... we were well on our way out then and either hadn't gone or had gone home at dinner time.

I'll never forget it - it was the day I lost my damn briefcase too ! (just kidding)

I would LOVE and I mean LOVE to load up a briefcase with watchtowers and literature put a few wires running out and leave it in an assembly hall! Just to see bits and pieces of watchtower drivel flying when the bomb squad blew it up would damn near make my life complete!

Seeing flaming watchtower debris raining down would be like watching porn for me! If I could only convince the military that Al qaeda is using the Brooklyn printing facilities to launch terrorist raids so they would preemptive carpet bomb it! Come on big W isn't that smart we should be able to convince him!

one of the then young lads caused a bomb scare back in the ira bombing days leaving his briefcase in town here, the town centre was cordonned off.

what i cant understand is why stupid mothers want to push their babies prams under the barrier tape so they can squeeze against it for a better look.

There was a bomb scare at Leeds in 1999/2000 when a brother (I know who it was) left a box of Bibles in a stairwell and someone completely overreacted and it was blown up by the bomb squad!

I hope the WTS is charged for all the waste-of-authorities-and-emergency-services !

I never had such excitement at any of the dc's I attended, thankfully. I wouldn't mind seeing a box of nwt's blown up nowadays though, that would be entertaining. I think that's the best thing that anyone could do with wts literature.
