The hashish-vice in the old testament. part 1,2...
by TheHighPriest inif you think that there is very little evidence for the use of cannabis in the bible think again, here is a few pages out of "indications of the hashish vice in the old testament".. before you get into it i suggest you make yourself a cup of something to go with the reading, enjoy.. by c. creighton, m.d., *london*.
from: janus, archives internationales pour l'histoire de la medecine et la geographie medicale, huitieme annee, 1903, p. 241-246 note: "canticles" refers to the old testament book "song of solomon" or "song of songs".
"vulgate" and "lxx" are early translations of the christian bible.

If you have children please read!
by LDH inbelow you will find the affirmations of humanism for children.. secular humanists believe there is no god; which in a round-about way makes you responible for your own actions.. their website is at http://www.secularhumanism.org.
while i don't agree with all of their teachings, the manifesto is an excellent parenting tool.
(i think you'll see how different it is from jw upbringing) i think you'll find that you could raise a very balanced and emotionally stable child following these guidelines.

Manna, a celestial food?
by TheHighPriest inthis will make most of you guys think that i believe you can find god in a mushroom, that is not exactly true but what if the jews did?
what if that is what the early christians thought?
what if christianity is inspired by drug users?

Wine that maketh glad the heart of man.
by TheHighPriest inwhy is it that drinking is so widely accepted amongst jw's when the bible has this to say about it?.
*** rbi8 proverbs 20:1 ***.
20 wine is a ridiculer, intoxicating liquor is boisterous, and everyone going astray by it is not wise.. here the bible say's clearly it is not a good idea to get stuck in to the drinks but i guess the writers of proverbs, inspired as they were, did not fully agree on the drinking issue because later one of them wrote:.

Family Ties
by somebody inanother lie told to the media/public on the jw-medai site.. do you shun former members?.
those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned.
in compliance with the scriptures, however, members can be expelled for serious unchristian conduct, such as stealing, drunkenness, or adultery, if they do not repent and cease such actions.

Hey! Wait a Second!!!
by SixofNine insomething just hit me.. you know how witnesses love to remind you that the early christian congregations had problems, sometimes even big problems, whenever modern day problems and inconsistancies are brought to their attention?.
as much as my gut and heart hate the glibness and triteness of that, it is difficult to argue against.
but i just thought of a key difference.
