Disfellowshipping an 80 year old man, with brain cancer, for swearing!
by James_Slash inthis happened many years ago in my old congregation.. the man, who held the position of a ministerial servant for many years had not long lost his wife in death.. obviously, tensions and the general heartbreak of what happened to him lasted for sometime.
i remember going to see him once and he was extremely depressed.. however, his son had recently moved back in with him and they had started arguing.
his son grassed on him in to the elders that his father had sworn at him in a number of arguments and he was removed as a ms. the rest is history.

Another personal experience with current JW's
by James_Slash ini guess i am used to hearing the word "miserable" now with current jw's.. i have spoken to four within a week who all claim their existance with the wtbts is an unfulfilling one.. i had a friend many years ago who remains on the 'fringes' of the congregation.
yet, now i am out whenever he gets the chance he tries to preach to me.
yet, in the same breath he states how he enjoys going nightclubbing and holidays - with excessive amounts of alcohol (with all current jw's) and whilst away from the watchful eye of their parents, often meet (i won't say 'worldly' as that is a jw term - but) women who do not share the same beliefs that they claim to have yet they hold far much more in common then what they would care to know.

What would Jesus Christ say if he returned today?
by James_Slash inthis was always one of the main justifications for me in leaving the wt behind.
i was just wondering how many of you have ever reasoned in the same way.. i have often wondered how jesus christ would react if he came back to the earth now and how he would view the organisation who claim to represent his standards?.
would jesus really want to be associated with paedophilia, false prophecies, shunning, the destruction of families, lies, untruths, hypocritical leaders and the lack of love amongst members?.

my own story 2
by James_Slash ini got up to the point where i spoke about my daughter.. so in 2007 i was stopped from seeing my daughter by my ex-wife with the help of her good standing jw family.. my mother is still a jw and remains as one.
we both suffered lies and slander perpretrated by this family which continues to this day.
in late 2007 i was cleared of any wrong doing and i retained a relationship with my daughter.

my own story
by James_Slash ini've posted here on and off for the past couple of years, but i've never revealed my reasons behind leaving the watchtower.. when i was younger, i was brought up in the faith (i don't call it the 'truth' anymore for reasons i will explain later).
my father had not long died (he was not a jw) my mother had been converted in 1984.. like many, as a young child i often found the meetings boring.
i used to dread them and in particular the conventions.

There is life after Jehovahs Witnesses
by James_Slash ini've been a member on this site for a number of years but i have never posted what i really think of the jw's and the org.. i left about 10 years ago - mentally.
but i have only made the long term decision to leave and never go back over the past 2-3 years.. it was difficult.
i have family and many friends who i still converse with on a regular basis.. being on the outside now i see what a major farce and a hypocritical state of affairs it all really is.. i often hear the comment "only people in the truth are really happy" and being a friend 'on the outside' many of my associates on the inside are far to easy to reveal exactly what they get up to when they are not at meetings or out knocking doors.. pre-marital sex, drunkenness, nightclubs, dating websites...the list goes on and on.

Witness in-laws destroyed my marriage
by James_Slash ini shall give you a little of information about myself.. i am 28 and from the uk.
i was baptised as a jw (big mistake) in 1996. i married a 'sister' in 2004 and had a child with her in may 2006.. however, things have turned really sour.. last year, my now ex-wife walked out of our home with support from the police, social workers and domestic violence workers.
by chance i returned from work one day to discover her family (her grandmother in particular) perched outside the local police station.

A married sister - posing as divorced on JW-Connect
by James_Slash infirstly, i will fill you in.. my friend's marriage split up in march.
both of them were raised as jw's, but i believe only my friend went to the meetings because his wife didn't want to go.. anyway, i believe that my friend started suffering with his health because he was taking on extra work to look after his wife and daughter to cover the debts that she had accumulated.
anyway, in march she left, claimed domestic violence and has left him in all sorts of debt (she had been running up credit card bills) .
