The most likely change that I've heard sugested is that the Governing body will be expanded to 12 members to resemble the 12 Apostles, and that the 144,000 number will be said to be complete and that no more new members will be acepted (as in new memorial partakers being counted). Also a push will be made to utilize JW.org more in the ministry, perhaps even using tablets at the door to present video and other info. All this is just speculation on my part, but seems likely.

Speculation Fall AGM
by Poztate ina lot of comments have been made about possible big changes at the agm in the fall.. comments range from changes to the blood doctrine or who compose the one hundred and forty four thousand.. my speculation is.... (and if someone else had this kind of thread i am not stealing from you..just never read it).
the door to door as we know it will cease to exist.
the publishing of a monthly public wt and awake will end.. instead each month a tract with different subjects and a redirect to jw.org will come out.

Were the JW Judicial Instructional Videos Leaked on Purpose?
by Wasanelder Once ini am just putting this out there.
notice how they repeatedly stress that the proceedings are not a trial or legal proceeding?
is this their way of putting out their position so that they have a legal defense against challenges of those disfellowshipped?

I also wondered if they may have been leaked intentionaly, but for a different reason. I think it's interesting that they use an example of "imorality" rather than "Apostasy". I also think its interesting when the elder says to the accused "since this is your first time facing a Judical Commitee", but then says nothing about whether or not he is wearing a recording device. I think if it was leaked intentionally, it may have been done so to potray how supposedly concerned the elders are about the "Spiritual welfare" of those involved, and how their supposed goal is to "restore their reltionship with Jehovah" Isn't it interesting how nothing is said about the accused responsibility to the Girlfriend and her unborn child? Are we to really think this is an acceptable aproach for a person wanting to be a Christian in this situation? Doesn't "Robbie" have a legal and moral responsibility toward his unborn child? Is it really "Jehovah's way" for him to just "Break it off" and walk away leaving her to fend for herself?

"Why would everyone be included this time...unless something special is about to happen?"
by Separation of Powers inso, i am talking to a long time friend, you know, the non-judgmental type that doesn't really mind that i don't go to many meetings and am never out in service.
he tells me that the annual meeting is coming up and that the whole congregation is invited...well, at least the active "approved" whole congregation.
he speaks with an excitement that puzzles me, like he just got invited to the locker room of his favorite football team when they won the superbowl.

I kind of thingk there will be more new light brought out. I'm thinking that at some point they will start backing off the 144,000 being a literal number, and maybe make it figuritive. Allowing for the possibility that more than that number will be in heaven. I also think at some point the heavenly class will be extended back to the time before Jesus. Especially in view of the way Heb. chapter 11 reads. But it's just speculation on my part.

A fascinating glimpse into the wacky and sinister world of Scientology
by cedars ini've spent the last couple of days reading up on scientology.
there is a new book out by lawrence wright called "going clear," which i really want to buy and read.. going clear is based on wright's article in the new yorker where he explores scientology through the experiences of paul haggis, a celebrated hollywood director who defected in 2009.. here's a two-part news report on haggis and scientology, featuring wright's opinions as an outsider investigating the organization.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=men7nb--q7w.

Another good book on Scientolgy is called "Inside Scientology" by Janet Reitman She give a very detailed account of the death of Lisa McPhearson. It's remarkable how much like the Watchtower they are even tho teachings are very different. The shunning policy is almost identical.

I am seriously considering writing an E-book
by AK - Jeff init is wise for a first time writer to write about what he knows, so i will write about my lifetime as a jehovah's witness.
but it will likely be less autobiographical and more about the sub-level markers that eventually pointed me out of the cult, doctrinal matters that bothered me under the surface, and the very real lack of love in that organization.. ideas?
thoughts?

The problem is that our experiances are like snowflakes. No two are the same. I've been thinking about a book for a long time. What I can't figure out is how to explain things in a way that others can comprehend. I find that when I tell people that I'm and ex JW, the response is often "So what". Even if it is not verbalized, you can tell, that to them it's just like being a former Baptist, or Methodist , ect. Most people just don't recognize how big of a deal it really is to those of us who have lost it all, because we no longer could follow the cult. Good luck with your project, Dan

When I first read the book, was in 1995 and I read an earlier copy. At the time the 3rd chapter was "Double Standards" it was the most eye opening to me.

The movie Castaway with Tom Hanks had parellels in it that you can relate to the JW world. Like when he tried to get off the island and the surf beat him up. Kind of like trying to leave the dubs. His socker Ball friend "Wilson" is kind of like the plastic friends one develops in the dubs (always smilling). The mental anxiety he feels even to the point of trying to kill himself. Also when he finaly is rescued and goes back to his old life and doesn't fit in anymore.
