Spiritual shipwreck happens when you are misled. You get involved with a religion that claims to be based on the Bible, but it isn't. Sooner or later, most (all but the most mindless robots) will see that the whole thing is a scam--this is what they call the "shipwreck". However, the real shipwreck happened when they got involved with the religion in the first place.
