I think you're interesting, and I would like for you to stick around. If a person has faith in Christ and God (as I do), but who doesn't think the bible is inerrant (as I don't), they are sometimes questioned as to the validity of their faith as well, so I have a vague idea where you're coming from. I don't worry too much about what others think about my faith though. It is between me and Christ, and God.

I didn't do your survey... not because I didn't believe in the things I had been taught for a while (because I did, as close to 100% as I could), but because I realize now how little I knew about the organization. I like to think that I would have stopped sooner had I known everything, but I can't be sure of that.

I hope I haven't been one to question your faith too much. I tend to write before I think sometimes. I value your thoughts VERY much, Tammy!

All is good between us, Dan! I value your thoughts and views as well, and I respect that some of our views are different, but we do both love Christ and do our best to follow Him.

Maybe you should post at Daily Kos with your credentials. Your belief is your business. Not a Witness belief.

i'll be posting a lot more on here in the coming weeks, in regards to some insight on some JW topics.

one thing I have found is that ex-JW's are really knowledgable about the society and a lot of other topics involving the WT and its history

thanks for everyone's help up to this point!

Students who approach the public for surveys...don't their questions need the approval of the University Ethics Board?

Furthermore, I see he claims to be an "independent researcher." Which leads to my next question. I understood the term "Independent Researcher" to mean he has no institutional affiliation.

Based on the Facebook comments above, it seems the JWs think he is an apostate.

Something is screwy. Odd that someone would tout their JW status then make fun of them. My family was so serious about the Society. Unless he is collecting data from an ISP, I don't see how the questions could be harmful. So I don't know the motives. Hopefully, just a colorful character.

I don't think Brett is that serious about the JWs. Like a lot of young JWs these days. They may say they believe and go through the motions, but it's more of a social club than a desire to serve God through the One True Religion.

Brett I found that letter I mentioned that discouraged helping social scientists by filling out surveys. In particular it says to avoid publishers giving personal opinions that are not in line with the Bible, so most of your questions would definitely be out.

considering that someone on this site was just disfellowshipped after being identified by someone registered on a site like this, just for the purpose of collecting info and using it against a member here, they made copies of their posts and then used them in a judicial committee, i have patience for anyone who has paranoia on this site, and wouldnt laugh out loud at it,

yes it might seem extreme, but its also extreme to be disfellowshipped and cut off from your whole family and that is a real threat to some who come on here,

im not having a go at any research being done, but just feel that patience needs to be shown for paranoia, as someone has already said, it goes with the territory,
