The point is, no matter how ridiculous an idea may appear to us, there is no need for arrogance.

Those who present their ideas respectfully should be addressed with respect and civility.

That's not to say that fallacious reasoning should not be exposed. But there is no need to disrespect another simply for holding a view that one considers absurd.

One of these picture is a "real" UFO picture off of that site... the others were made by me in about 5 minutes in Corel Photopaint... can you guess which one is 'legit'? (Probably. But what led you to that conclusion?)

You know what... I think I may send in a forged photo and a story to those guys and see if they put it through as proof.

It's telling that the same names appear again and again in threads about the supernatural.

WARLOCK AND BUTTLIGHT AND DELILAH AND MARY.

    SORRY IF I'VE OMITTED ANYONE.

I still would not ridicule people who have a paranormal experience. I would not ridicule people who have a born again experience.

    I have not experience either.

I still would not ridicule people who have a paranormal experience. I would not ridicule people who have a born again experience.

Could you elaborate on that. Why not?

How far do you take that? Would you not ridicule them if they were a teacher for example and wanted to teach it to their students?

What if they believed they were born a third time, a fourth? What if they claim to be born again EVERY DAY? What if they thought they were abducted by aliens? What if they thought they went back in time for a couple months and actually prevented World War III? What if they thought there was an invisible man following them around everywere that only they can see? What if they think they're the messiah? What if they think they're an alien? What if they say that a dead relative is going to kill them in a few months if they don't blow up a bridge? What if they say that the dead relative wanted nothing more than to say 'Hi' and flip a light switch one last time before moving on? What if they claim that an angel told them that the only way to prevent the planet being destroyed is to find all the guys named Lot and twist their wives head around backward and until one of them turns to salt? What if they unleash wild bears on a group of 40+ children simply for insulting them and then claim it was gods will? What if they think that all the OTHER people here who believe in ouija boards and talking to ghosts should be burnt as witches?

I'll bet you haven't experienced any of those things yourself either, but I'm sure you draw the line somewhere and would have them committed for psychological help. None of those claims are much more absurd than the other. I'm not sure about the statistics, but I'm pretty sure that the odds of someone being abducted by an alien and acctually being an alien can't be much different. They both assume that aliens exist and are on the planet. So what's the difference?

    No need to ridicule.

    Isn't reality readily apparent?

Those that cling to that which is not real suffer enough.

    Why add to their suffering?

    Dear FunkyDerek:

"...they demand respect for their beliefs no matter how insane..."-FunkyDerek (partial quote)

Explain why the possibility of the paranormal cannot exist or is an
"insane" notion as you imply or suggest?

This is my second request FunkyDerek
because you wanted to discuss the issue.

Try not to become too emotional in your response.

    Rich:

I have also noticed the ridicule of those who believe in the paranormal. Usually those that ridicule this also ridicule any who profess any belief in the bible. They think it is some sort of weakness to believe in the unseen.

What really cracks me up is when somebody dabbles in the occult and claims to have no fear of demons because "they don't believe in it anyway".
