I was asked to post this by a paranoid JWDer. And being the good apostate that I am I felt compelled to oblige. I think it is so funny that JWDers find out this stuff before the R&F.

    So here it is....

I'm an elder and have stated as much on this board. Call me paranoid, but I'd rather not stick my head up and say "Hey Bethel monitors, come after this guy!" Who knows? (Go ahead, call me paranoid, I dare you.)

So, I just read this latest letter to Bodies of Elders this week. It was at the KH with other "shepherds" breathing down my neck for their chance to read the latest drivel from "Mother". So I couldn't photocopy it or even write down verbatim quotes. But, here goes with my best recollection.

In November there's going to be a "Special" Awake! magazine! Yayy!! It's going to be entitled: Can You Trust the Bible? (That's the only verbatim part I can recall.)

It went on to describe exactly what you would expect a magazine like this to be about. Cherry picked "proof" of the Bible's accuracy, blah, blah. And, of course, it will include a Young People Ask article: Why Should I Live By the Bible? (not an exact quote, but you get the idea.)

Now for the most important part. This letter is CONFIDENTIAL so please don't tell anyone. OK? Promise? ;-) I'm sure all you JWDers will abide by this latest directive.

Gee I love pissing off the boys in New York.

    Sincerely,

Rat in the Kitchen (that's my secret, double, double agent code name)

And the article's answer will be:

YES, YOU CAN TRUST THE BIBLE. However, we cannot trust you to read it by itself. You must read our literature constantly and keep up with our ever-changing "insight". It is available at no charge. It will only cost you feedom and sanity.

Can't help saying a couple of things.

    1) It sounds like they're going to get everybody worked up over this. Yeah sure its confidential, within about 5 minutes there will be rumors worldwide about something big coming. When it comes out it will be a cut and paste job of earlier stuff that will still be hailed as "meat in due season."

    2) I hope they come to my door with it. I'm going to tell them of course I can trust the Bible. It's the Watchtower Society that can't be trusted.

    Two thoughts.

    1) What is so special and confidential about that? Sounds like a run of the mill title to me

    2) Why is there a bible based title for the Awake? Isn't it usually their "fluff" magazine?

Last year, maybe around September they had a "Special" edition of the Awake. Something about science or evolution. There was nothing special about it except it might have said "Special Edition" on the cover. It was just a trick to get the members excited. "oooh, did you hear about the new special Awake? Make sure you get extra copies so everyone can hear this important message. Lets all pioneer this month so the entire territory gets to hear this special information. Boy, the faithful slave know exactly what those in the territory need."

With the WT changing to be more applicable for the R&F witnesses, it just makes sense that Asleep! will take on more generic 'bible-based' topics for the general public to view.
