This object is 13 billion light-years away.

Light travels 300,000 kilometers per second.

It took 13 billion years for us to receive the light that was recorded as the image in the article:

Buy a cheap telescope at a department store, and you can see the Andromeda Galaxy easily. You can even see it with binoculars.

Yet that light took 2 million years to get here.

If God made the Universe only a few thousand years ago, how is it possible for us to see this galaxy?

The ball is in your court, Perry.

Speed of light, Perry. Speed of light.

Perry wrote to me on the Noah's ark thread, page 3, that God, master of time, manipulates things so they only look billions of years old...from our human perspective.

How can you argue with someone who just makes up crap on the fly?

On a really, really dark night with no moon and very clear air, you can see it with your naked eyes. It looks about twice as large as the moon and appears as a very faint fuzzy blob.

You can't. Once miracles or other supernatural mumbo jumbo is invoked, the argument is over. It has left the realm of objective debate.

You sound like a rabid ateist, LOL.

    P.S.

    Ask Perry's bird.

It's interesting that in some respects reasonable Christians like BTS are closer on the "reality" spectrum to atheists than they are to fundies.

As answered - you really can't.

However, that thing about God making things pretend to appear much older than they really are is subject to one fundamental question -

    WHY?

    Drwtsm,

There are many many reasonable christians out there - often times, people fail to realize this fact and throw them in an unreasonable ball of buffoonery, the face they assosiate this with is Perry. I don't fully understand why, but that's the way it is.

What do I think of dubbers that go to fundies? WEll, um, I haven't met a normal fundie yet, but there's always a chance they are out there. I doubt it, though.

    Kiss me!

I was going to say that the most distant known object in Perry's universe would be the portion of his brain that processes rational thought, but there are two problems with saying that:

It would be an insult to Perry. I really shouldn't do that.

It has to be something "known."

    So I won't say it.
