It must be of concern to the GB with all the information that is been leaked now
by joe134cd ini was just watching cedars prank call to tomo3.
by the way lloyd very well done and totally funny.
but on a more serious note (and i think what must be of concern to the gb) are the amount of leaks that must be occurring at a senior level or at least by a person who has access to sensitive information.

Relief Efforts for Typhoon in Manila (Philippines)
by StephaneLaliberte ini find articles like this (click very frustrating to read.
when i read reports on how charity was delivered, i am expecting to read numbers that will give me an idea of how money was used for such relief.
unfortunately, the information provided is simply not enough to provide any ball park idea of what was actually spent.

This was the only time we had this happened close to us. Everyone in the cong knew about it. But I am sure most won't remember if you asked. -

"Laughter trumps fear every time" - another method to chip away at WT's authority?
by sir82 insaw this article on slate.. it got me thinking - the wts are certainly providing lots of ammunition for spoofing.
talks about tight pants, singing trolleys, rubber faced buffoonery from lett...... what if we start encouraging jws to laugh at their leadership, instead of kowtowing in reverential awe?.
from the article:.

I am personally divided on this.
- In one side, I believe that, sure, the opportunity could have been used to confront him on better subjects. However, I do not think it would have gotten any further, neither he would have been dumb enough to fall for it. This people can perpetuate their positions because they are wise enough (provided their wisdom isn't used for good) not to fall for this things. They have years of experience doing this and I am pretty sure this is not the first time they get confronted. Having been asked the other questions that many here would have liked, he would have probably referred you to some other underling that would take on the dirty work. They may not be good with the bible or at financial decisions, but they are good scammers. They now what to say and when to say it or when to shut up. He hanged up the phone at the very right time. Would have he allowed himself to move further and the conversation would have gotten more serious, he would have not been able to get off the hook so easily. He most likely knew he was being recorded.
- In the other side, the call did not have a script. I am pretty sure Cedars has a pretty long laundry list of questions but he may have been surprised to even realize he got thru to him. I know I would and even if I knew exactly what I would have asked him, chances are the words would have not come out right. If this is not the case, I refer to my first point. Even if you were able to fool the guy into thinking you are indeed at Bethel, once the hard questions begin he would have probably referred you to someone else. As you can see from the initial conversation, the question over the laundry was what got him out of his domain. He was a bit caught by surprise and allowed to joke because he thought it was real. When the actual critic began, he needed some time to realize what he was getting into. Would have been hit directly with questions after he said "you shrunk them", then I doubt he would have been caught with his guard down.
Never the less, the chances of this ever making it to a WT article or yearbook are slim. Although not impossible, it would be easy for apostate relatives of JWs to show them the true story. Putting picture of demonstrations of angry people in front of assemblies for those who'd never seen one has a whole different effect. Once you actually get to see one, your mental picture is already there.
I am pretty sure Cedars, having given his name, would be probably receiving some legal documents over this. Even if it is just an attempt to scare him

Not sure. That is why I was posting about it. I just saw it there and I do not remember any announcements about it. But yet again, I may have missed that meeting. -

Few years ago (I believe it was tropical storm Allison 2001) there was mass flooding in the coastal Texas areas, near Houston and Galveston. I'm in South Texas and we were asked (official letter) to look at ways in which we could contribute to the disaster relief for our brothers. Many from my cong volunteered to go work repairing houses of brothers. Those of us who stayed behind were asked to make any type of contributions we could and a special relief fund was setup up. Others could opt to donate goods rather than money. They were asking for refrigerators, kitchen appliances, bedding and the like. Everything had to be new (not used or preowned), so the branch said that rather than us buying an appliance and shipping it over to them, the branch gave us a list of needed appliances. As a study group we could pick one and make a donation towards it. The society then "would use our fund to acquire the selected appliance". As you can see, it does not seem like the WTBTS used any of their own funds on this relief effort. Everything came from new donations made by the friends. -

South Texas Introduction
by artsteel inwow, amazing to read all these experiences.. luckily, i walked away from them 20 some odd years ago because i wasn't making it financially and decided to pursue higher education.
best decision i ever made.
i was able to finish my degrees and i still shake my head at how these people really believe, really mind boggling.. most family members and friends i knew stopped talking to me, and up to this day i'm glad they did.. .
