  What was the most rebellious thing you did while you were a devout jw?

  i was just thinking about how humans being imperfect and satan's influence was the root of everything bad that anyone has ever done.

  well i know that apparently everyone is vulnerable which got me thinking about what "bad" things people have done while they were a jw.

  i'll start it off.

  Coaxed my parents into lending me money for a small moped, knowing full well I was off to buy a b.s.a motorbike.

  Put on my studded leather jacket and wrode off into the distance singing be bop a lula.

  Haven't looked back since Yee Haa !!!

  14 Minutes and you are not a Servant of Jehovah

  last night we were discussing the "new light" that was revealed to the gb recently from jehovah.

  many of us recall all the co talks and elder parts based on the bible text of how a true servant of jah would not be "inactive or irregular" for years one was required to have at least one hour to be considered a servant of jah.. as the sec in my hall i recall so many times calling up friends to get thier time and hearing them break crying cause they didn't have 60min only about 45min- and they knew that it meant they were not servants of jah.

  now with the new light from jw a person with only 14 minutes of time will now be disqualified as being a servant of jah.. it is amazing how many jw will view this arrangement as a "loving provision from jah" instead of realizing that thier service to thier god has been reduced to whether they get 15min or 14 min.

  What price selfishness?(not derogatory) but our self worth our own sanity against all odds.

  You have made a great sacrifice I'm sure for your own wellbeing.

  researchers working with a telescope at the south pole beleive they have glimpsed light from the first "trillionth of a trillionth of a tillionth" of a second after the big bang.. a lot of work has still to be done to confirm the findings, but if it holds up it is one of the biggest discoveries ever.. _________________________________________.

  ...inflation came with a very specific prediction - that it would be associated with waves of gravitational energy, and that these ripples in the fabric of space would leave an indelible mark on the oldest light in the sky - the famous cosmic microwave background.. the bicep2 team says it has now identified that signal.

  scientists call it b-mode polarisation.

  Cofty,...of course the tools the human brain can devise are exactly within the capacity of human understanding ie the brain has reasoned beforehand as to why such things as you have mentioned are constructed. My point is the physical make up ie tissue, nerve, proteins all have a limit we cant go beyond it unless something is added to the mix.

  It begs the question imo that there may be "things"beyond our actual capacity of understanding.

  The spark of creation for example we can only ever investigate within the constraints of our capacity, otherwise you would have to argue our brains have limitless capacity.

  Everything in our world that we understand has a defined beginning and will ultimately end.

  The enigma of the universe/cosmos does not at our present understand seem to conform to our human rational, as we will always wonder what caused the initial spark and so on to infinity.

  Perhaps someday.

  Viviane,...A collective of Ferraris revving their heads off, will only be as good as the one engine which lasts longest.

  You would have to physically join the engines or modify to increase better performance.

  Not possible with the human brain.That capacity remains within one brain.The only difference being influence to change opinion.

  The physical make up of the brain puts the same constraints on all, otherwise we are talking supernatural which is a whole different ball game.

  i have a number of problems with the noah's ark story that i could never find the answer to in the bible and so i thought i could ask here:.

  1.how did noah get animals that are indigenous to areas he could not get to (e,g penguins, koalas, kangaroos, moose etc) .

  2.the flood supposedly happened around 4000 years ago but there is evidence of civilisation dating back a lot further.

  it has helped thousands upon thousands of people to sort things out, and see ttatt.

  i would like to propose something to help with the healing process and help people become ex-exjw's, if possible.

  Slightly of thread, but regarding the water canopy and the earth being perfect and comfortable for gods creatures. I remember an article in the awake sorry don't have exact date probably 70s.under heading nature's radiator or akin to that describing an animal which had an inbuilt cooling system as it lived in conditions so hot tgat other creatures would not survive in.Why would it have such a system if it was created into a comfortable world for all creatures to live in.

  I think the article writer shot himself in the foot as it would seem to uphold the evolutionary process.

  Hi cofty, a bit of a cop out reply methinks.

  Who knows perhaps the 12th cent wasn't so bad, or how about some of the 12th cent benefiting from 21st cent scientific advancement for the positive.

  The human brain will always strive for answers its how we are wired, but that wiring in conjunction with the physicality of its make up must have limitations, as can be seen from some responses on this forum.My own included of course
