Hi noontide I relate to your situation also. For me I feel no love whatsoever for my jw father although I do "feel" love for the rest of my jw family is when I think of my father in terms of feeling there is nothing there. I put this down to his inability to love that is he has never shown proper love but always as a sense of duty usually when other people are around. This may come across as unusual to some but my brother who is an elder has the same feeling about it as me . while in conversation about it many years ago his wife's jaw almost hit the table when he let known his feelings about it! Currently my father has shunned me from his home where my jw mom now in her 80s has dementia and other health problems. She cherished my visits and the rest of my jw family have no problem with me visiting my mom inc' my brother the elder work that one out? So I conclude him shunning me is more to do with his inability to love , even the elders in his congregation don't agree with him . It just goes to show how this whacked out religion affects peoples minds . For anyone reading this who is still associated with this mob steer well clear if you want to retain your sanity!!

The Gall & Hypocrisy!!
by Simon Morley injust got a call from my daughter that she got word that the jw honeywagon (literature stand) has set up in the university she teaches at.
one (and there are many) of the reasons we left was due to the stance on higher education, she was persecuted by the elders for attending the very university they are now set up in.
my daughter eventually got a masters degree overseas and now teaches at the same unversity, is self sufficent and will not have to eke out some pittance of a living while fighting a very delbilitating health condition.

STEVE 2 . Your correct they don't seem to be looking for verbal contact .I approached one a couple of wks ago and looked at the two guys and said,"why did the organisation join the united nations?.. They appeared quite bewildered and i noticed the females 3 of them quickly turned away in a huddle. Anyway a discussion followed in which they were shaking their heads in the negative so i said check it out for yourselves . I advised against the intrernet route but said write to the U.N. and the W.B.T.S for yourselves. I only stuck to that subject,so they said come back next week for a further discussion which i did but they were not present at the time i arrived although another guy was, he was the one who told me he didn't think the JWs had 100% truth i spoke about this in another thread r.e. publication street carts. Anyway i hope to meet up with the other 2 guys to see what they have to say r.e. the U.N. fiasco. Oh i just remembered just after i initially asked the question about the U.N. almost immediateley one guy muttered to the other "apostate" even although i had not mentioned a word about scripture!!

The JW cart/booth nonsense
by Gypsy Sam inhttp://www.christianpost.com/news/battle-of-beliefs-baptist-evangelist-nation-of-islam-muslim-and-jehovah-witnesses-vie-for-souls-at-new-yorks-subway-stations-112512/.
will this wake any jw's up to how they have more in common with other sects than they believe?.

Captain B can it not be arranged after all it would be for a very good[ possibly life changing ] cause, also the fact that prearranged questions could have a better effect?

Interestingly a week or so before the xmas hols i was speaking to a witness at one of these cart stances , surprisingly during our conversation he said ' i don't believe we [the witnesses]have 100% the truth that kind of stopped me in my tracks, so i said well i think you have a good attitude there, its always good to be able to question what is deemed to be the truth, yes of course he replied. So hopefully he will learn TTATT . I may go back and have another discussion if they appear in the same spot again.

Point scoring from people of the same ilk; ie god, jesus, salvation. Whats the point? we print more than you, we preach more than you, we help people more than you. If they need some invisible entity as their reason for doing this where is their humanity!

Is this really a place for Jehovah's Witnesses/Friends
by jeff spreng ini ask this because i was considering rejoining and the stories i have read only remind me of what was done to me.
is there any clean place to go where good people and fellowship can be had.
it sounds like maybe the people here should get together and start there own thing, like the reorganized latter day saints.

Sorry i don't quite understand, what are you considering rejoining? If its the JWs why did you leave in the first place?. If not, do you feel you have to be a part of some organization for some reason?

Status quo? Or tell ttatt?
by ILoveTTATT insupposing i can pull off moving to the other city without the elders successfully finding me and forcing me to go to a jc or something.... should i ever tell my mom ttatt?
or should i let sleeping dogs lie?
it is extremely unlikely that dad will tell her ttatt... he prefers, 99% of the time, to not say anything rather than fight.

Most ex jw's want to tell their family members.TTATT because of selfish reasons, why? IMO its because their life, being, self, was not their own choosing. their parents brought them into this world [hopefully] to have a good and fulfilled life I.E. this life whereas, when your family choose to live the jw life they jeopardize their childrens happiness because they [the parent or parents] are always living in hope and as the old saying goes; people who live in hope never live in the present.I would always by way of normal conversation point out TTATT but stick to one subject at a time. Good luck. Oh bye the way selfishness on our parts is not always a bad thing, its sometimes essential for our wellbeing.

Anyone Can be baptised - Can't they?
by tim hooper indoes a new convert have to be approved for baptism by the elders or someone similar i wonder?.
years ago, at a circuit assembly, i came across a young man whose jw father had thrown him out of the family home because of his abusiveness.
he'd got nowhere to go so he travelled south and finished up attending our local assembly.

I love how the guy in the commentary says; she just HAD! to get in .He didn't consider that she may have taken that action to show what a mockery the whole thing is to common sense!.
