  I have a question thats pertinent to where I attend.

  Why is every body moving to other congregations but remaining in the old

  congregation's territory?

  This weeks LIE in the brochure

  this week in the brochure for the "bible reading" it states on subject 24. that jehovahs witnesses wrote a century ago that jehovahs bacjs us and we do t take donations "and we never have!!!!

  ".....please someone post the information to prove this as a lie as we all know they used to charge for literature.

  this is an outright lie lol ridiculous..

  Absolutely searcher,

  the "missionary" levy should pick up at least a cool 12 million, conservatively speaking.

  I have this feeling that the last couple of wt articles will lead to some aspect of tithing

  given that it wasn't mentioned. Conspicuous by absence I reckon

  Sharing new light

  gotta share this experience.. had a shepherding call from a lone sanctimonious elder.. he started banging on about the new light in john 17:3. know jehovah.

  this weeks wt study.. i let him roll on for a while then pulled out an old catholic douay version dated 1962.. made sure he saw the cross on the front cover, he didn't want me to open it up ha ha.

  i insisted he would appreciate the comparison with christendom's bible which of course renders .

  Gotta share this experience.

  Had a shepherding call from a lone sanctimonious elder.

  He started banging on about the new light in john 17:3. Know Jehovah. This weeks wt study.

  I let him roll on for a while then pulled out an old catholic douay version dated 1962.

  Made sure he saw the cross on the front cover, he didn't want me to open it up ha ha

  I insisted he would appreciate the comparison with Christendom's bible which of course renders

  the translation "they shall k now you" . Classic, he wouldn't have it and said I should stop wasting my

  time doing so much research and concentrate on the preaching work. So I asked him what scripture I

  could use to prove the apparent overlapping generation teaching to a householder, given it had been a core teaching..

  After some unrelated small talk and an attempt to offer a prayer on my behalf (that I declined) he left.

  Just heard back from a dear friend that it has been suggested among the body of elders and minows that I need

  to be watched for possible apostate leanings!!!!!!!

  Geez, I'm trying to give this a fair go but it seems that there are serious flaws in 1 doctrine and 2 attitudes.

  And now this weeks brochure study bangs on about the library in the kh.... mate its all out of date the way they are going.

  I haven't shared my story here yet but suffice to say that in everything in life I believe in finding basis for faith or belief.

  I've been out for 30 yrs and reckon it's worth proving for myself what is worth ascribing to. I was a born in and "walked"

  when it got too hard to please people. As I told the elder, if I can't prove it to myself away from the percieved requirement

  this time around then how can I prove it to someone else???

  Caroline, the jw position is: one faith, one baptism, one lord as decreed by eight men in brooklyn.

  In other words, there is no way to salvation outside of jw's. Don't matter what creed or faith you

  have. In their view the jews were a bunch of mongrels. as are all who don't accept jw doctrine,

  as I'm learning at an ever increasing pace.

  Plesae help - source of JW teachings on 'army of stars' teaching

  hi, continuing my discussions with my jw friend he mentioned that genesis 2:1 'host' of heaven was actually a reference to an army of stars.

  he mentioned that the same phraseology is used in psalms and he quoted a psalm (i think!

  ) which had actual names of stars in it.

  I was trying to figure out the question to para 8 & 9 in the current wt study you commented on.

  So I jwn googled neh 9 6 and came across this thread.

  So after reading the paragraph I see that evidently the levites also understood there

  were two heavenly armies. Sigh,,,,,,, sometimes I'm not sure why I'm bothering

  but I am trying to prove or disprove for myself what truth is.

  Christmas Field Service

  on another thread, i read that a few adherents may be traveling (cough-cough) to other cities and wouldn't be able to make field service on christmas day.. what is the likelihood that going out on christmas will be encouraged at the weekend services at the khs?

  ...or do most halls stay neutral on this?

  given what i've read on this forum, i have the impression that disrespecting a day of other's celebration wouldn't be discouraged which annoys the heck out of me..

  Great critical review Blondie,

  I did hear a talk at a circuit assly where the speaker stated that

  there was nothing wrong with writing out your prayer so you don't wander "off topic".

  I got stuck on trying to comprehend the "most successful" description in

  paragraph 4. What made it the most successful festival since Joshua? (attendance figure?)

  I would have thought the inauguration of temples 1kings 8 and 9 (Solomon)

  or the re-building of jerusalem might have been more "successful" than whacking up a wall!

  We may not hear the comments but I'm sure they will be on the minds of attendees!

  Well frankiespeakin, I reckon the gb new someone would say that!

  That's why they put that neat box in the wt article that stated it was

  a hypothetical situation !!!! ( your thoughts are shared by many )
