  LoveUniHatesExams - Agreed. Just thought folks should know how deadly that can be. This I learned from an ex, who was in the 82nd Airborne.

  He also taught me 'don't bring a knife to a gunfight' , haha, true. but seriously. A knife can easily be taken away, especially by a larger, more powerful man. So if you must carry a knife, make sure it fits your smaller hand and can be easily wielded. Keep in mind that knife piercing skin, and meeting bone, may cause you to feel squeamish - even though your life may be in danger, you are NOT trained to do this - and you may freeze at the last moment because of this.

  Another reason why the throat punch is a good idea. It doesn't feel 'icky'. Makes sense to me!

  If you are attacked, your best bet to disable your assailant (at close range) is to hit him in the throat. I carry my keys with a suitable large Swiss army knife which I can swing (unopened) - set of keys, your fist, anything. The attacker cannot breathe - literally - and will have to let you go.

  This works every time, and easy to do. Be aware that this blow could be fatal.

  I think the British have proven to be very alert. Consider the number of attempts that were prevented. Even with no TV and little internet news, I have seen a few stories of British CID or whatever their police force is named, catching a terrorist cell.
  
  Like the French, these people display great courage and 'grace under pressure'. Other western countries, less experienced in dealing with terrorism, would be well-advised to follow their lead, rather than prematurely (and I say, foolishly) jumping to a position of war.

  since that website had views on doctrinal matters that no longer reflect my current stand, i took the website down.

  however, my views on this matter are still current, and for the benefit of everyone here, i'm going to post the article here.

  "If" one believes in the Bible and JC is the saviour, I would guess that JC would have the 'last word' on this subject.

  Hmmm, it seems to me that JC gave us only 2 'commandments', and they were as follows:
  

  Mark 12:30-31New International Version (NIV)
  30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[a] 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] There is no commandment greater than these.”

  Is SHUNNING an act of love? How is love defined by the writer to the Corinthians? Oh, here it is. Surely SHUNNING could in no way be considered LOVING.

  Dariokehl, I wonder if MJ helps direct us to whatever needs attending? Your comments made me think, , hmm. When a person can't eat, it helps with the nausea. When a person is in great pain (physical), it helps to dull the pain When a person is in psychic pain, they feel it intensely and are forced to deal with it. That makes a lot of sense.

  As a pain med, it's no different (for me) from any other. Except without the physical side effects vomiting with each dose and paralysis of the lower bowel (ack!). I was recently in hospital and had to take narcotics for several weeks. Did I feel high? Nope. The pain went away, though. It's the same with MJ. When in constant pain, it offers relief. And yes, it's different for everyone - as is anything we ingest. Makes sense.

  2+2=5 , agreed. It's hard to understand why a doctor would rather prescribe Lyrica (with its myriad dangerous side effects and prohibitive cost), when MJ can be grown on the windowsill for pennies. It blows my mind.

  Good on you, for self-educating, once you got free from the cult, instead of buying into another propaganda machine (the corporate-run government kind). See you on 4.20.16. ; )
