Movies/Books for Cult Survivors
by Brighid infor me, there have always been special movies or scenes in movies that trigger my old jw experience (fiddler on the roof and little mermaid touched me deeply when i watched them as a young jw).
later as a survivor, it was more donnie darko, thx 1138 themes that struck me in particular.. anyway, looking for suggestions on great movies, books (art of any kind, really) that especially speak to or move you as a jw survivor?
there are reasons beyond purely entertainment that i ask..

Won't get fooled again ...Moon Landing.
by The Rebel inso i was fooled by the witnesses.
what can i learn from that?
not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.

The Rebel .... i never doubted the moon landing, although the waving flag is kinda strange, but it is true that governments lie to their citizenry, on a regular basis. Also, the MOON LANDING was part of a bigger operation, one that was known in the 80s as Operation Star Wars (I guess Regan let that one out of the bag).
It's not about exploring space - it's about the strategic placing of satellites to monitor, and weapons to control, any 'situations' that the rulers of our planet feel may need intervention.xx

If you're studying psychology, then you'll recognize the Jungian way of analyzing dreams ... this was the 'path' of one of my psychologists. In this way of looking at dreams (which is mostly agreed, are a way of processing life events), the people or perhaps, other things or animals, are projections of yourself, and/or parts of yourself and your own experiences that take other shapes in your dream processes. By looking at the actions of these 'projections' (for lack of a better word), it's possible to be able to relate to parts of yourself that may be shut down in day-to-day life, for various reasons. That's just one viewpoint, of course, but I hope it's helpful.
PS. Your dreams are not 'weird', they are just 'yours'. The important thing is, you are firmly on the journey of self-exploration, and that *is* the way to heal. Good for you! All the best. XO
Edit: No matter how you analyze, and there are lots of resources nowadays, whether through personal research online or at the library, or professionals who have sliding scales, etc., may I encourage you to keep writing your dreams down on paper? It's especially good if you keep pen/pencil and notepaper next to the bed, and get down whatever you can.
All the best, you're on a good path! xx -

"We Already Forgive Him" - What Does That Mean?
by cofty inthe children of one of yesterday's shooting have told the media that they have already forgiven the killer for what he did.. dylaan roof has not apologised for what he did.
he hates black people and probably regrets not killing even more.. what does it really mean to forgive?.
if the legal system asked the victims relatives what they want done next would they ask for dylaan to go free and unpunished?.

I am sorry for addressing you in a rude way. That was wrong, and I'm sorry.
You make a sweeping statement about feminism, which is borne of ignorance. I would encourage you, and others, to research the roots and history of 'feminism' .. from the first wave, which gave us the vote, to the third wave, which eliminated the *rule of thumb*, that enabled men to beat their wives with a stick that was no bigger than a thumb in diameter.
It is my suspicion that you know little about what *feminism* really means, but that gives me no right to make you look foolish.
I can only hope that you will seek to educate yourself about these issues, and wish you peace and happiness.

by LostGeneration inlooks like the faithful jws are back in the basement, the oct 15th wt has this image on page 9. but now the lights have been turned out!
i guess the persecution is really kicking in if the electric company has shut off their electricity, or the jws are really, really paranoid that the government is gonna get them if they have the lights on!.
only one guy is smart enough to use his tablet (far right), the rest of the jws are old school, using a lantern to read their bibles in the dark!

Royal Commission into Child Abuse - Australia
by biometrics insaw this in the paper today:.
the jehovah's witnesses church in australia is the latest religious group to come to the attention of the royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse.. the child sex abuse royal commission will hold a public hearing into controversial christian group the jehovah's witnesses, next month.. the inquiry, to be held in sydney, will hear from people who were allegedly sexually abused within the jehovah's witnesses church in australia.. it will examine how the jehovah's witnesses church and its company, the watchtower bible and tract society of australia, responded to claims of child sexual abuse within the organisation.. a victorian inquiry into how churches handle child sex abuse claims has previously taken submissions from former jehovah's witnesses who alleged instances of paedophilia, sexual assault, blackmail and death threats.. the organisation has 64,000 active "disciples" in australia but has also been described as a cult.. jehovah's witnesses believe their church is the one true religion and all others are wrong.
they are among a number of religious groups which have been examined by the royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse including the catholics, anglicans, australian christian churches and the salvation army.. the jehovah's witnesses australian headquarters has been contacted for comment about the inquiry which is scheduled to begin on july 27.. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/nsw/jehovahs-witnesses-to-appear-before-sex-abuse-royal-commission-20150622-ghue73.html.

And wow, just reading the comments. People on this board were making fun of Steven Unthank? He has done so much for our TRIBE's children. I missed that, and can't understand why anyone would do such a thing. SMDH
Wiki lists only 132 Royal Commissions in Australia from 1902 - 2014. I don't think people outside the Commonwealth realize (generally speaking) what a big deal this is. These enquiries are national headline news. They are nonpartisan, and can uncover a lot of dirt!
The Australian government has already shown that it will not be cowed by the WTS (thank you, Steven Unthank, for getting the ball rolling), and this could be an huge step forward.

The Confederate Flag
by Simon inthe latest controversy over the confederate flag just sums up to me the state of dysfunction that exists in american society.. in summary: a white supremacist nutter shoots 9 black people dead in a church.
he's clearly inspired by the messages of others which the confederate flag is often a symbol of.. it seems like a no-brainer to remove it.
not only isn't it removed, it isn't even lowered at all as a mark of respect.. and of course now there are the people who want to defend their right to have it.

William Tappan Thompson designed this flag. Here's what HE said. (black bold is mine)
url: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Tappan_Thompson
Although he was from Ohio, during the American Civil War, Thompson supported the Confederacy and its cause, as a resident of Georgia.[1] In 1863, as the editor of the Savannah Morning News he proposed a design that would ultimately become the Confederacy's second national flag, which would be come to known as the "Stainless Banner."[2][3][7][8]
In a series of editorials, Thompson argued:
As a people, we are fighting to maintain the Heaven-ordained supremacy of the white man over the inferior or colored race; a white flag would thus be emblematical of our cause.[4]… Such a flag…would soon take rank among the proudest ensigns of the nations, and be hailed by the civilized world as THE WHITE MAN'S FLAG.[5]… As a national emblem, it is significant of our higher cause, the cause of a superior race, and a higher civilization contending against ignorance, infidelity, and barbarism. Another merit in the new flag is, that it bears no resemblance to the now infamous banner of theYankee vandals.[6]
After the American Civil War ended and slavery was abolished in the U.S., Thompson, as a fervent supporter of the Democrats, opposed the Republican Party's efforts in southern U.S. states, as well as opposing the granting of civil rights to African Americans and freed slaves.[1][7]
I agree with Simon on this one completely. The facts speak for themselves. *shrugs*

How strong were you in “The Truth?”
by John Aquila inwhen you were still asleep in the watchtower organization and had no idea of ttatt.
what would you have done if you were in a serious accident and all of a sudden you woke up in the emergency hospital room with all the brothers and sisters at your side and your spouse cheering you on to be faithful to jehovah.
then the doctor comes up to you and tells you that you are about to go into surgery because there is no time to lose and the only way to live is to take a blood transfusion ?

I left the Lie when I was 18, and after a few years, had no qualms about breaking any of the JW rules.
When I was 40, I had a bad miscarriage. I was hemmorhaging (gushing, actually). It was midnight when we got to the Emerg, and the OR didn't open till 7 a.m.. They were trying to wait till morning, instead of calling in an OBGYN to operate in the middle of the night. A blood transfusion was an imminent possibility.
In my drugged-up and confused state, pain, on the drip, etc.,,, I was glad the next day, that my partner was there to sign the permission form. We had discussed it previously (when I made him my NOK), and he knew that I had no qualms - logically - about having a transfusion, BUTEven after all those years, the blood issue was so ingrained in my psyche, that when I got out of surgery, I was relieved it was not *me* who signed the permission form.
It's a strange feeling, bleeding out ... it doesn't hurt,, you just drift off and feel weaker and weaker ... I think it would be an easy death and escape from pain. If I had been JW at the time, it would have been easy to refuse a transfusion while I was in that state, especially with the support of the "Brothers". xx
Have I said recently, how much I abhor this Death Cult????
(PS - as it turned out, they were able to slow down the bleeding, and did not give me a transfusion. They only give them when you really NEED them, since HIV.)
