This forum...Is it really healthy........??
by ScoobySnax in....i mean is it really healthy to be posting on this forum if you still hold pro-jw views?
is it really healthy to keep posting even though you may be anti-jw?
..... when does the crunch come to think enough is enough, i need to get a grip and move on with my life as a jw or exjw?

Scoob: I agree w Talesin; you stick around and fart all you want. This is not the line for the women's room at the convention. There's no pressure and you don't need to get off the pot until you are d*mned good and ready.
This board is like TV. Sometimes there's some amazing stuff on, other times it truly is a "vast wasteland" (there's an old quote). The thing I've noticed is, it's cyclical. Stick around for awhile and it changes. Some days the content is largely profound. That's followed by mounds of fluff. To you newbies out there who want to wade thru the fluff to get to the good stuff: Note that the pages are numbered and posts are archived in chronological order. Click on a small number some time and take a look at where this all started. It's like finding the special collections room in the library.
There are many books in this library. You cannot read them all, nor should you. It pays to be discerning both here and elsewhere in your life.
And, Scoob: As an elder currently struggling with his place in the universe, my advice to you is keep studying. The truth will set you free.

was your "talent" wasted in JW-ville?
by doodle-v inawhile ago when i heard that prince had joined the borg immeadiately i thought "man, what a waste of talent" and yes i do think that musically prince is very talented.
anyway, it got me thinking about how many of us wasted our time, money and effort in jw-ville.
an actor or actress, a singer, a famous writer?

...they made me what i am today, taught me to speak to people and educate them. Now i am in the airforce and a weapons instructor and i owe it all to the ministry school, how ironic is that.
Here's a guy with lemons, making lemonade!

My talk today with my JW neighbor
by bebu ini had a very good conversation with my jw friend today.
it arose out of my invitation to our yearly friendship service at church this sunday.
she was so nice, but said it might prove difficult, since jws made a specific commitment to jehovah, and the doctrine of our church was trinitarian and she would feel very uncomfortable.. then she asked me who i thought god was.

Once again, love conquers all.
By the way, the list of nominees for "Best Witness of the Year" just got longer. Keep up the good work, y'all.

The Only Way to Improve Your Life is by Studying with JWs!
by Funchback inthis statement appears to be absolute truth if you were to ask any one of jehovah's witnesses to answer the question: who can one turn to for help in making positive changes in their life?
the literature that they read is peppered with examples of people who once were violent or drug addicted or had other addictions such as alcohol or gambling and are now one of jehovah's witnesses.
first, do you believe that one can only make a change by studying the bible with jws?

Okay, so he's back in the congo as a publisher, not an elder. This means he can (unless he's on restriction, which would be temporary):
- give talks from the platform
- read the bible or other related materials at a public meeting
- offer prayer on behalf of the group that is gathered for a meeting or field service
- appear in a demonstration or part on stage
And, of course, he can and in fact will be REQUIRED to go door-to-door and represent himself to unsuspecting householders of all ages as a nice, respectable, religious man and a minister of God. This door to door activity will mean at some point he will:
- work alone when there is an odd number in the car group and other circumstances prevail
- speak one on one to minor children at the door whose parents may not be home
- keep written records of those "householders'" (or their children) that interest him
- make arrangements to come back and "talk about the bible" with anyone who trusts him
This is just great.

Ironic, isn't it, that all the advice on this thread has to do with NOT telling the truth and simply saying you're fed up with the scam and you're not going to play anymore? What does that say about the cult status of this organization? Brave men reduced to making lame excuses and hoping not to get busted, all because the org holds our families and our reputations over our heads ("we have your family and we're not afraid to use them!").
I'm sympathetic, as I'm in the middle of a similar process -- as so many are.

How to Get a "Scriptural" Divorce!
by metatron insince many of you are curious about divorce, witness-style, here goes:.
first, you maintain good relations with the 'good old boys" - er - i mean the elders.

True story:
Sister, divorced for some years, marries younger brother. He wants to have sex every night on the honeymoon, she finds it repulsive. They come home, moves him into separate bedroom. He complains to elders, with whom she refuses to meet. They shrug it off, not wanting to get involved in marital problems unless both parties invite them to. Brother comes home from work, finds his clothes out on porch, locks changed on house (which was her house, by the way). He moves into apartment, starts attending another congregation. Months go by. She refuses to discuss matter with elders. Congregation rumor mill is working overtime; congregants take sides. A year, maybe 15 months later, word gets out that he is engaged to a sister, wedding planned soon. Congregation goes berserk. How is this possible? Has there been a "scriptural" divorce? How? Elders are totally silent, wedding takes place, friends left to wonder.
Now for the rest of the story: Turns out he went to a prostitute for oral gratification, then confessed the sin to elders. He appeared remorseful. No one else (in the congregation) knew about the incident. Judicial Committee's decision was private reproof, but they asked him to seek forgiveness from his wife. She would not take his calls so he sent her a letter, got no response. Elders told him no response meant no forgiveness, thus he was free to marry should he someday desire to do so. Which he did.
Where there's a will, there's a way.

Joan of Arcadia
by metatron ini really like this new cbs show - perhaps because it presents god talking to an ordinary ( and bewildered) teenage.
girl.
the actors are top notch and the plots - involving a zen- like god - interesting.

I find the show more emotionally stirring than 3 dozen Service Meetings... the sands are shifting under the Society's feet... and they could all wake up one day soon to find the organization they thought was so impervious has become irrelevant...
I have not seen this particular show, but I often have the same feeling when watching, say, Oprah or Dr. Phil... there are all these people out there trying to get to the root of people's problems and assist them on their journey thru life and give hope -- consoling, if you will, the teeming masses of humanity who are starved for leadership and guidance. There is more truth in some of these one hour shows than in a year's worth of watchtower studies at the KH. The meetings ARE irrelevant and there is growing recognition of the fact.

Wolfgirl: You're being nominated for Best Witness of the Year, Informal category. With just a few months left before the winners are determined, I doubt anyone can top this.
