Crownboy:
This resolution is clearly the oft-forgotten 8th trumpet blast of Revelation which bible students have been eagerly awaiting since the 7th was sounded in the 1920's. Keep up, dude!
as most of you probably already know, from time to time the watchtower society likes to use district conventions as a platform for adopting silly resolutions, which more than likely are forgotten by the people who gave their approval to it by the time they leave the parking lot of the convention.
this year, during the final talk of the convention (talk entitled: "keep bearing much fruit to jehovah's glory"), a ten point resolution was adopted, with all the baby seal-like clapping following its adoption.
here's the main jist of the ten points (i didn't copy it word for word):.

did you suddenly just stop reporting time?
did you do it gradually???
what reaction did you get from the elders when you missed your first month reporting time?

two young jw girls form the indian river congergation came knocking at my door yesterday.
at first i thought that they were mormons.
they said that they were dubbers.
Kittie: How much do elders know about the books they teach from?
Well, remember when you were in school and you thought the teacher was so smart and then you found out that the teacher had the same workbook you did EXCEPT the teacher's version had all the answers in the back?
Elder's don't have that.
well, after a 15 month absence from the kingdom hall, i once again found myself in the biggest kingdom hall of all the district convention.
as in previous years, the material presented was dull and repetitious, so once again, i was forced to provide my own entertainment.
so, like last year, i am pleased to present a further installment to my assembly adventures, called:
Reportedly, the inspired speaker for the "voice of a stranger" part in San Diego this summer was the infamous Floyd Kite, who rose to prominence in the pre-1975 years as one of the chief proponents of the significance of that "marked" year. Of course, after 1975 he was put out to pasture and more or less abandoned, along with that illegitimate child of a date, but when they needed fire and brimstone this summer, well, who ya gonna call?
my mother was addicted to prescription drugs, mostly pain pills and muscle relaxers.
it was very hard growing up with a parent like that.
i remember being 5 and having to do all the washing of the dishes, folding clothes and watching my baby sister.
Until we admit we are flawed and face the challenge of a rational recovery, we fight and flounder.
Gary: Man, that's profound. Yes, a book for Adult Children of JW's would be godsend to many. I found it easier to quit drinking.

Rocketman wrote: "...dumbed down...with the possible exception of the Isaiah volumes."
Please don't take offense, R'man, but since you brought it up I need to go on a rant.
The two Isaiah books will soon have consumed the time and attention of JW's for two and a half years and I can assure you all that very few have become bible scholars as a result. As for providing deep study of the scriptures, the books simply state the obvious, that the verses apply to actual historical events in Israel. Once that's covered, the second half of each chapter goes to great pains to show that, somehow, the more real and significant application is to world events involved faithful and discreet slave class since 1919.
The truth is, Isaiah is a book about Jewish events and points forward to the fulfilment of prophecies concerning the restoration of the Jewish home land. There might be five scriptures in the entire book of Isaiah that could possibly, maybe, have something to do with the future, but it would take a real bible scholar to intuit that and here's some news: Biblical scholarship is remarkably absent from virtually every page in either volume of this steaming pile of horse poop.
These books are totally irrelevant to the average witness, because they contain not one word about Christian principles or the problems faced by modern-day Christians.
I know at least four people who have "left the truth" or started to fade because this book was the last straw. I've sat and watched as the proper explanation of the "modern day fulfillment" was painfully extracted from the largely unwilling audience, often by an elder who was busily rephrasing the questions at the bottom of the paragraphs to make the study more palatable.
what, in your opinion, is the worst thing that the society has released?
(book / tract / video / audio cassette)
The Commentary/James book is a verse by verse discussion of bible principles and their application in the life of a modern day Christian. Interestingly, it is almost the only verse-by-verse study published by the WTS based on New Testament writings (excepting Revelation). It is out of print, of course, and relegated to the scrap pile.
Meanwhile, JWs are spending THREE YEARS on a verse-by-verse study of the book of Isaiah, spanning two volumes, which is dead Jewish history with almost no relevance for Christians alive today. Most witnesses know that and hate having to study it; the pertinent material could have been covered in a 32-page brochure.
These facts speak "volumes" about the direction in which things are going.
Reb: the thing you have to ask yourself is, do I care if I'm DF'd? Picture the aftermath: no one at the KH will speak to you, nor will any other JW you know or care about; this includes your parents, siblings, children and other family members.
If you don't have family who are "in" and no real friends to speak of, let the chips fall where they may, assuming of course you are ready to leave anyway. In that case, the advice from some to "just not go" is sound.
However, if you have any relationships to preserve or protect, failing to show up at the JC hearing will just make it easier for them to DF you; they'll feel 'good' about it, too, because they will have rooted out evil apostasy and that will earn them big points at the next CO visit and their individual reps will be enhanced.
Go back and re-read the posts that recommend you maintain a "who me?" approach and plead simple doubts. You may have to hone your acting skills, but Reb, this is all about acting. They're going to act as though they're doing something righteous, and they will expect you to act like you are truly repentant.

Nice research, expat, and thank you Scully for the magazine quote that exposes the level of hypocrisy practiced by the organization. Several of you said none of this shocks you anymore, but rest assured these kinds of revelations have a 'shock and awe' impact on many newbies who are finding this site. It's unbelievable, isn't it, that we've wallowed in this poop for so long?
