Take subway to work? Count your time!

i was sitting next to a sister this evening who during the whole ride she had one of those plastic folders that holds the mags and pamphlets, she had both spanish and english and was holding the folder out in front of her until she got off the train.

i asked her if she was counting her time, she said yes (of course she asked how do i know about that).

she said it's not easy talking to the people in the station (seemed like she meant standing with the trolley or just the mags) because sometimes people say things that aren't nice, so she counts her time on her daily commute.

One day assembly

at a recent one day assembly i walked away with the thought that the wtbts sure does not like witnesses who have the opportunity to make a good living.

there were, in one day, three experiences of witnesses who turned down "6 figure salaries" because there would be some traveling involved and some meetings would be missed as well as missing family worship night.

i thought it strange that the exact phrase was used of "6 figure salary".

It's all a lie. There is no glut of Witnesses turning down six figure salaries to pioneer.

In my last cong was an elder, who lost his job. Next convention he was interviewed and he told the audience, that es has simplified his life. *hypocrite*

In my opinion "witnesses turning down six figure salaries" means --> they lost there good job.

Maybe she don't accept YOUR headship in "spiritual and congregation things" BUT still accept your headship in all other matters.

College Quote - Help Needed

i don't post on here for often, but i read posts almost daily and i love our little community of ex-jw's.

a little bit of a background i was raised in as jw but was never baptized but was a publisher and believe it wholehearedly.

my father was very strict when it came to the religion and although i really quit going in my early 20s (which broke his heart) it held a power over me until i was close the to 30. at 30 i decided to enroll in community college while working full time and got my aa last year.

Oh Damn...I have been sprung!

i knew it could happen one day...yet i was so careful..... sitting at the sound cabinet, i had our awesome forum open on my tablet, and didn't see the microphone brother looking over at me...... he wandered over and asked me "whats that site?".

i quickly responded "oh, i googled to get to our jw.org site, and this must have popped up" while quickly closing it.... he didn't look too fussed, but my heart was beating..... he is pretty chilled out and certainly not an "uber-dub"...but this was a wake up call to be more careful...i am fading fast, but don't want anymore attention from the nazi-elders while doing so!.

I will bet in the near future all KH with a router will add a list of sites not allowed to access. Or maybe even only allow a specified few. Anyone with me on this bet?

More likely they'll write some code to flag "apostate" websites. The GB would rather catch "bad guys" than prevent "crimes."

In my "old" KH they allowed only access to jw pages via WLAN.

Sitting at home with a cold beer is much better then sitting in a little room without windows and handle a JC

Disfellowshipped for Tattoos??

i know several jw's that have them but i always thought they were totally taboo.

using the name Jehovah does not make you a JW. Hundreds of millions of people use the name Jehovah.

My mother (born in) would deny this. She allways says: "ONLY JW use the name Jehovah." I know not one JW, who would admit, that other "worldly people" use this name.
