Well, they certainly wouldn't be forced in Michigan. There's already a law that allows any one in the health care profession to refuse to treat anyone they think will offend their religious beliefs. So if they percieve someone might be gay, they can refuse to treat them. This one apparently slipped through our conservative legislature. It doesn't end with treatment of gays by any means, applies to birth control and reproductive issues, too.

I'm glad you're OK and that you made the decision you did. I experienced significant blood loss this fall and in the ER made sure I wrote on the form that I had no objections to any type of treatment using blood and asked that it be put in the computer immediately; I later signed a consent form though thankfully didn't have to use it.
Though you would have chosen a different time for this discussion I think you handled it quite well.

Went to Memorial - where was everybody?
by Bonnie_Clyde ini haven't missed a memorial since i started attending over 50 years ago.
tonight i was expecting the hall to be jambed as usual.
i sat in the 5th row from the front and from where i sat, i could see 31 empty seats--there may have been more.

Attendance was down because last year's memorial was the last one before the big A, remember?

Could they change the 1914 doctrine this way?
by AK - Jeff ina friend and i were discussing the possible means by which the wts could drop 1914, the last remaining significant prophetic flop-date to which they cling.
i believe they will feel compelled to do so, and i believe they will do so within the next 5 years.
they tend to drop significant prophecies before crucial anniversaries that make them a clear laughingstock.

The problem is that the GB has convinced everyone they speak from god. Once you have someone convinced of this you can tell them just about everything. The r&f certainly don't understand it; everyone is waiting on jehovah to resolve doubts. How do you crack the "gb speaks from jah" lock and chain that keeps everyone in their place?

I remember hearing (from a DO or Bethelite or someone "important") that the "society" was going to slowly move things out of the city for safety when things got too bad near the big A. It's taken quiet a while because that was more than 20 years ago. Now they can safely make huge amounts of money from the sales.

My wife has finally seen the light.
by Ironhead infor 18 months i have been at loggerheads with my wife over the wts.
she has been the perfect watchtower slave even declaring that she'll never leave the truth.
i decided not to interfere in her life, attacking the society, and the idiots in the hall, but recently things have changed for the best.

Seven years ago I was "inactive" and newly divorced. And broke and supporting two kids. My family had already decided to shun me because I wasn't attending meetings and they thought I must have committed a sin. Nothing was further from the truth! My new "worldly" friends were a huge support and got me through the tough times. I still thought the wtbs might be right but knew I'd never go back. I was still three or so years away from discovering JWD.
A lot has happened; thanks for the thread Jourles!
