  What did you like/hate about JW calendars?

  for me, every (other) saturday was magazine day.

  the only marked date on the calendar was the memorial.. the nature scenes were ok when they had a nature theme.

  i think the calendar is too small, boxes not big enough to write in..

  The in-house, academic calendars where I work remind me of them; same background colors, same type. I still do a double take when I glance at them.

  with the settlement of the 17 child abuse cases, now that there is approx another 7000 pending lawsuits (or so i have read), if the wt settles (or loses) these cases if they ever reach the court rooms, what do you think the outcome would be??.

  i think that (i'm praying it happens) this will ruin them financially and be the end of jw's..

  I think they have so much money that it'll hurt their pride more than their bank balance. If it's widely publicized, it could hurt them some, but regular jw's have their heads in the sand; any negetive publicy will be twisted as persecution. The gb has them in such a brainwashed lock, they can't possibly acknowledge the truth.

  JW Fired for Refusing to Sing Happy Birthday

  in mesquite, texas, sabrina ballantine says she was fired from razzoo's for refusing to sing happy birthday.

  she is a jw, who does not believe in celebrating birthdays and singing this song.. "razzoo's settles lawsuit over religious firing.".

  On the application they should ask, "Is there any reason you could not do this job?" I saw that on a form recently and was surprised as I'd never seen it before. It would be good for this reason. If you can't do the job, don't apply.

  Unforseen Times and Bad Haircuts befall us all :S

  when i go to get my hair cut, i have a series of very specific lengths that different parts of my hair are supposed to be cut.

  today i went to new place and told the girl exactly what to do... this long here... that long there... watch out for the tricky cowlick over here... etc.... did she listen?

  no.. instead she got this very intense look on her face and started going at it.

  Else, you've got a great hair; it probably looks better than you feel. I hope you didn't pay her, though. A friend said to me once, trying to get through my tears from a really bad haircut, "it's only hair. Give it a couple of weeks..."

  Can you go back to a former barber/stylist next time?

  Yes, I knew it and, yes, it bothered me. I felt as though I was left out, exposed, without access to "god" in prayer. I never did reconcile it. It was one of those things you're supposed to take in faith but that doesn't help.

  I think many in the congregation didn't realize that was a jw teaching.

  there 's been a lot said on this board lately about revealing our feelings and doubts to friends, family, and that "reasonable elder".

  well, i just wanted to share something with you guys.. a while back, i had what i thought was an innocent conversation with someone very near and dear to me.

  all was calm and rational, questions were asked in a spirit of wanting to understand.

  what dessert should i serve with lasagne?

  making beef lasagne, green salad and garlic bread.

  stuck at the dessert, don't want something too rich and heavy.

  A scoop of sorbet in a champagne flute, a bit of sliced, inseason fruit, pour asti supmanti over, serve. This is a light dessert for something like lasagna, and quite elegant.

  it's official; they read the letter tonight that puts forth the new procedure.

  if you find an expelled person in the field or are studying with one, you are no longer permitted to give them lit.

  presumably the elders make a decision if an expelled one is regularly attending meetings, but only they can give them lit.

  So how is this dub's only issue going to work? Do you get it from your book study conductor? Must not be lying around the lit counter.

  Wonder if there will be a divide between those who love being in the secret half and those who think everyone should have the info.
