I'm meeting with the elders this Saturday
by Honesty inthat's right, guys and girls, i'm going to meet with at least two elders this saturday.. before you get ya britches in a big 'ol wad i can explain everything.. it's like this... well, a good friend asked me yesterday if i would be willing to meet with some jw's who have been having a 'bible study' with him for 5 or 6 weeks.
it appears that these jw's are elders and they have informed him that he is not a christian.
he asked them if they would be willing to discuss their beliefs with anyone and everyone so that he could be sure what they are telling him about not being a christian is true.

I think they''ll refuse to engage in any discussion even if they lose their "new sheep." They're taught to turn tail and run from apostates which you'll be from your first question. At least your friend will be free! The borg makes them so terrified of anything other than their own dope that witnesses literally can't listen.

My letter to the "Glorious Ones."...
by Justice-One ini thought you guys might get a hoot out of this letter that i just mailed..... dear elders (or should i call you glorious ones?).
you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can never fool all the people all the time.
and you certainly do not have me fooled anymore.

Bearing Witness thru a Vital 'Leaflet Campaigne".....
by AK - Jeff inalso, he ordered us to preach to the people and to give a thorough witness that this is the one decreed by god to be judge of the living and the dead.
43 to him all the prophets bear witness, that everyone putting faith in him gets forgiveness of sins through his name.
" acts 10 nwthow could anyone seriously believe that when peter stated the above words, he had anything remotely like the impressive work of distributing a 4 page color tract to all corners of the earth?

A "sister" came to our door yesterday and I was unfortunately out. My daughter answered the door expecting a friend. She told the woman we werent interested and she got the old come-back, "not interested in the Bible?" She tried to give my daughter the tract asking if she knew false religion was to be destroyed, and was told, "we used to be jehovah's witnesses." The woman turned on her heel!. How rude they are. My daughter sweetly said, "have a good day," and the woman turned and acknowledged it. Then my daughter wished her good luck! I'm not sure how I'd have responded but would have loved the opportunity.

Panic Attacks
by AudeSapere ina co-worker says she's been having panic attacks lately and is quite concerned about them.. she was given a prescription for atarax to use 'as needed' but it didn't help any.. i wonder if anyone here has had - or knows someone who has had - these sort of attacks.. what sort of symptoms were experienced?
what treatment worked??
what didn't work???.

I had them really bad for a couple of years. This is nearly 30 years ago when they weren't even diagnosed as such. At least not with my doctor.
They were terrifying. Some people feel that they are having a heart attack or are just going to die. I believed I was literally loosing my mind. I was home alone with the kids once and called an elder because I didn't know what was going to happen; I was afraid to be alone.
Treatment depends on the person. After one tranquilizer, I returned the rest to the pharmacy. During an eposode you can't do anything else but deal with it. Fortunately, though I was afraid to leave home, I kept plugging away. Eventually I got mostly over them. When I get really fatigued I sometimes begin to feel the beginning of old symptoms, a sign to slow down.
Your coworker may get relief through therapy. I would want to try other methods before drugs but its up to the individual. That you're compassionate will go a long way to help and reassure her.

I think you'll find it freeing. Some of it's tough to read; finding the truth about an organization you've been dedicated to can be emotional. But it freed me from the last little doubt that they may be right.

letting my daughter continue to visit me
Don't you have visitation rights with your daughter? This could be a court matter; if you have the right for her to visit, they can't take that away.

Project Runway
by MsMcDucket indoes anyone watch this show?
i was so disappointed that jeffrey won!
uli should have won.

I watched this entire season (for the first time) and was so disappointed with the outcome. Laura's clothes are stunning-so much handwork.
Was Jeffrey set up to win from the beginning? My coworkers said the competition was to find "forward looking" designers and Jeffrey was the only one that fit the description. The judges liked all of Uli's clothing but hated two of Jeffreys designs. (They also liked all of Laura's.) It just didn't make sense to me.
Probably won't watch another season.
