  seriously, i welcome you.. i was explaining to one of my friends recently about how the watchtower society uses it's members to make them money every day without them even realizing it.

  I began to realize that it wasn't the beliefs that allowed me to be JW......... it was the people.

  That is a very true statement. And its really amazing you recognized it's a cult, during the time when the internet wasn't there.!!!

  Why does it affect us so deeply?

  i was having a great chat with a valued friend and fellow forum member today on the phone.. we were discussing how deeply we all get affected by jw interactions - even years after fading or disassociating.. you know what i mean.

  those days when we run into jws who we considered to be our close friends.

  or "loving shepherds" who don't act kindly.

  It still deeply affects me (Even after 8 years of quitting) because my wife and mom are still in the cult and I'm a little suspicious that they may turn against me anytime, influenced by the cult

  Revelation 14:4

  it turns out that on the basis of the book of revelation 14:4 the anointed ones have to be virgins?

  how does the governing body explain this?.

  These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they remained virgins

  Defile means Unclean or impure

  That is a great insult to women. Why are women considered as such, even if this is symbolic ?

  Despite these Biblical humiliation, women are the larger army in all the christian sects

  Also, why is 144K a magical number? Solomon supposedly sacrificed 144K cattle in his great slaughter and Sacrifice festival.

  I think Psycho John, who supposedly scribbled revelation, picked this number from the Old Testament nonsense

  Holy Spirit

  jehovah's witnesses say that the holy spirit is inanimate.

  but how then can you sin against the holy spirit, if he is not alive ?!

  🤔 then it is more correct to say that it is not against the holy spirit, but against god..

  During my Bible (brainwash) study, I was taught that Holy Spirit is Jehovah’s active force and that any sin can be forgiven except sinning against the Holy Spirit. Does that make Holy Spirit greater than Jehovah?

  Sinning against the Holy Spirit. What does this actually mean ? Sinning against an Active Force ?

  Convoluted and Idiotic. What else would religions teach ?

  Bumped Into One Of My Best Friends On The Carts This Morning

  so this morning i'm walking to my office and there's the jws on their carts outside as usual.

  and old sister, a brother in his 20s and an elder i instantly recognized from my jw days.

  one of my best friends of about 20 years.. i genuinely just wanted to say hi as i havent seen him in 3 years.

  Any cult member is a preprogrammed robot and we cannot expect basic Humanity in them.

  I was thrown out of a JW dinner party, all because I researched about the WT and questioned it.

  That’s my experience. Take heart and continue making the best out of your life.

  In which month did Jesus die?

  i am putting this out as an idea, as something to think about.. this assumes that the death and claimed resurrection of jesus has soteriological significance.

  i am not seeking comments on the veracity of that position, nor with endeavouring to identify any model that provides an "explanation".. i am simply asking, did jesus die in nisan (march/april = "easter") or would it have had proper soteriological significance if the events took place in tishri (september/october)?.

  is it possible - and i doubt there is any way of knowing - that the early christians found it useful to incorporate existing pagan "spring" festivals, as this enabled them to differentiate themselves from the jews' heavy focus on tishri?.

  i guess you can be physically out, like in a huge way, but definitely mentally in.. serena williams claims she won't be celebrating her daughter's first birthday.. i did know people like that, raised as a jw but never actually baptizing.

  that didn't mean they were not messed up in the head though..
