  Without god what is the basis of morality?

  i'm sure most here who've questioned or left behind their belief in god have encountered this question - without god, what basis can there be for morality?

  my exwife, when i admitted that i was an atheist, once asked me "if you don't believe in god, what's to stop you from going out and raping and murdering?

  " previously, whenever i got this objection, i would tend to turn it around on the other person with a response along the lines of "if fear of god is the only thing that stops you from murdering, that makes me rather nervous to be around you.

  If any Christian comes and preaches me about Gods Morality I would ask him /her about the morality of these events

  God Subjecting Adam and eve and all their generations to undue sufferings, all because eve disobeyed and ate a fruit.

  It’s ok to own slaves and beat them

  A man stoned to death because he picked up sticks on the Sabbath

  Uzziah killed instantly because with all good intent he prevented the ark from falling

  God killing the First Born of Egypt because Pharaoh disobeyed him

  Lot and His Daughters incestuous Story, yet Lot is called a Righteous person

  Jah kills 70K People because David took a census

  Daughter In law seduces her Father in law.

  The murder Pillage by Joshua and Moses, ordered by the Morale god.

  God Kills Job’s children and servants because of a bet with the Devil.

  Jah is satisfied with the torture and Killing of his own son.

  in fact, only three books of the hebrew scriptures, 1 chronicles, job, and zechariah, mention satan, which means “resister.” why was little said about our enemy prior to the arrival of the messiah?.

  3 apparently, jehovah did not want to give satan undue prominence by devoting large portions of the hebrew scriptures to discussing him and his activity.

  jehovah’s primary purpose for inspiring that section of the scriptures was to identify the messiah and lead god’s people to him.. .

  Apparently, Jehovah did not want to give Satan undue prominence

  But is still allowing Satan to be an Immensley powerful and invisible force that can influence and harm mankind and who can bring untold miseries and so on...

  Have you ever considered how bizarre the idea of "War in Heaven" really is?

  when you grow up and look back on childhood belief you have to laugh at how.

  easter bunnies and santa were all too plausible for children because trusted adults who were otherwise unimpeachable sources of truth and reality assured and reassured kids.

  why wouldn't they accept it?jehovah's witness kids didn't have santa, we had armageddon.only this morning i suddenly asked myself why i ever accepted the idea of a war in heaven as even remotely sane.

  Satan and his demons were cast out of heaven into earth. What a loving Arrangement.

  AS if the earth has less of Problems. THis is just like a loving dad sending serial killers to his childrens home.

  Anybody here still believe in the bible?

  i'm a current bible student of jw's looking to chat with someone about biblical doctrine.

  i'm not interested in talking with an apostate or a fader, i'm just a person looking for answers and wondered if there are any neutral voices in this forum who have good insights into the bible.

  i currently talk with a couple of jw's on a personal level from my congregation and they are knowledgeable to a certain extent, but i dare not ask them certain questions because, as you know, the congregation has a culture of fear that impacts trust and openness, especially concerning biblical doctrine or the societies teachings.

  After all, humans can make an evil person powerless in a matter minutes, hours or days.

  The almighty that created the mighty galaxies, star clusters and stuff, cant make Satan powerless in an instant ?

  When I started to show signs of Apostasy(, after having known TTATT), a group of my so called JW associates (All Indians and belong to my state –Tamilnadu), invited me and my wife for dinner. Two of the elders took me to their basement and made me to confess that whether I would like to continue as a faithful JW or not. I said I no longer can be a JW but still would like to continue my friendship with them

  They immediately said that they would no longer associate with me and told me to leave. My wife and I left heart broken.

  A year later, I wrote my disassociation letter.

  Happily my JW wife and mom treat me as usual. That’s a lucky thing for me until now

  Bible comes alive if we look for meaning behind the symbols it uses

  bible contains too much human thinking presented as though from god, thus much of its information brings dishonor to god.. yet it contains great beneficial truths behind the symbols it uses.

  let us take the only two cases of miracles jesus performed without any request from anybody which would show the very purpose of his ministry:.

  1) jesus healed a woman who “was bent over and could not straighten up at all.” (luke 13:11-13).
