Jephthah's Daughter
by cantleave ini have read somewhere that jephthah's daughter did not really go into temple service but was a victim of ritual sacrifice.
the bible says that after weeping over her virginity that the maidens would visit her annually.
how could they visit her if she was killed?.

A god who kills all the first born of a nation, because the King never listened to him
A god who wipes out tribe after tribe for silly reasons.
A god who commands "stoning to death" of a poor guy who picks up sticks on the Sabbath
A God who Kills 70K people because David took a census
A god who allowed his own son to be tortured and Killed in a Gory way.
Why wont the same God accept a Human Burnt Offering ?.

If you're expecting a mass exodus anytime soon, FORGET ABOUT IT!
by nowwhat? ini have to make a token appearance at the k.h.
once a month or so and this week went to a different hall.
and believe me they are all still totally oblivious to all the negative news about the pedophiles and shunning that have come under scrutiny by the media and other governments.

Yes, I agree as per this title of this thread. We cannot expect a mass Exodus anytime. I believe this because of my conversation with 2 elders last week.
What ever I brought up in the Conversation.....Child abuse cases, UNO connection, Australian Royal Commission..
They sum it up in 3 words.. "Its not True" and they refuse to see the evidence when presented.

DesirousOfChange Yes, I did tell them to write a letter to their leaders inquiring about the UNO connection and child abuse cases.
They assured that they would get back to me on this after their supposed "Research"

Yes, this is called Self-deception out of Willful ignorance.
There is no way we can make them understand that they are deceiving themselves, unless they take up the courage and clear their mind and start to think open mindedly, as most of us did
It’s very hard or totally impossible to have meaningful conversation with such fellas.

Hey Everyone.
Here is what happened.
2 elders came, one in his 60's and another in his 70's
After a formal chat for 2 mins, the older one started off with Noah's Flood. I never expected this. He said that the flood literally happened and people today never believe it and ridicule it. My wife should have told them that I am an atheist and hence this may be the reason.
I patiently waited until he finished. Then I asked him why doesn't any of the Science channels like National Geography or discovery produce a documentary about the flood and prove its occurrence if this was so true.
THe older one replied that the Science channels willfully conceal the Noah's flood in order to propagate their own evolution agenda.
Ha... that moment I realized that I have to debate now with willfully ignorant WT crackpots .
Me: Then I bought up the Child abuse cases and ARC
Elders response: Apostate lies
Me: United Nation Membership
Elders: Apostate lies
Me: I asked them how do they classify the Blood Issue with Minor and major components. Asked them to show it from the Bible
Elders: How can you question God ?
Then I questioned about John 6:54 where Jesus tells everyone do be cannibaslistic
They started off with the Gymnastics of explaining me the 144K and stuff
They said that Jah is patient to see people repent and return to him
I asked them then why does he immediately wipe out so many tribes in a fit of anger.
They said that Jah ousted Satan from heaven and these are the last days.
Me: A loving father would not send Serial Killer to his childrens House. Would they.
The younger one of the two elders said that Jah Ousted out Satan to earth in order to set right things.
They finally handed over the Memorial invitation and a “Return to Jehovah” brochure.
I toldf them I may not attend as I see this as a mere ritual and is not beneficial to anyone
The arguments went on for hours and I was literally tired to handle their willful ignorance and stupidity.
Finally I challenged them that if they are really honest, would they investigate about WT's connection with the UNO. They agreed. They refused to see the UNO evidence letter I was willing to provide. Then, I firmly said that I would wait for another visit from them after they have researched on this.
It was a 1.5 hour energy/Time waste at my end

Why are there more sisters than brothers at the Kingdom Hauls?
by Sour Grapes ini have always wondered why there are more females than males in all of the congregations that i have visited?
some of these females are in their 70's so maybe their husbands have died and women just live longer.
or could the reason be that years ago men were the breadwinners and women stayed home to raise the children thus they were home during the week when the jdubs came a knocking?

Religion is an Emotional Crutch for women that can be used 24X7 and that is the reason that there are more women than men in most religions.
Hinduism for Example, has more female worshipers who are more dedicated to their religion than men. Most Hindu men are namesake religious.

Jesus Christ—The Greatest Scientist (and Psychologist) who ever lived on earth!
by Ireneus inif we eliminate all the controversial and confusing verses attributed to jesus we will get the crystal clear truth from him because his source was (1) god which can be seen from his habit of early morning talking to god in prayer (mark 1:35; john 8:1, 2) which would not have been for material blessings (mathew 6:8; 16:24), and (2) also observance of people.. 1) jesus who said judgment is based on whether we acted humanely or not (mathew 25:31-46) would not have spoken about god’s people and pagans (which means bulk of the things found in gospel had not been spoken/done by jesus).. 2) another important truth he said was about the real key to our happiness which he said is with each one of us.
(luke 17:21).
from his observance of history, he knew there are people from adversities who made great contribution to the world; and there are people from all abundance who lived a life of wastage accomplishing nothing; and there are people who are mixed in varying degree.

Jesus the Great Scientist - Yeah, that is why he followed the devil to the top of the mountain to view all the Kingdoms of the earth
Jesus the Great Psychologist - Yes, and that's why he advised his followers to love him more than they love their family, leave their family and follow him

After leaving the JWs - Has anyone stayed with Christianity?
by rulehayl ini recently made the decision to stop studying with my study conductor, due to a situation i found myself in that led to a high possibility of my unbaptized publisher "rights" being taken away from me.
i have since told my study conductor i have joined a new church (to which she dropped me like a hot rock, of course).... last time i posted on here, i was progressing nicely towards baptism, and was well into it.anyhoo, i like my new church, very hillsong-esqe.
so just wondering if anyone else has stayed the course of christianity after leaving the jws, and if so - where did you go?

I came out of the JW cult and did a research on religions and discovered that there is nothing such as a God.
Since then, whenever I get a chance, I participate in any open religious ceremonies, for the sake of people and for merely fun. Love Church Choirs and songs.
