JW do not care about doctrine what I have seen and observed in the 1970's-1990's. They only care to be with an agreement with momentary explanations given by WT. If WT change doctrine, masses of JWs just follow with it without any hesitation. Only what WT said and published. Doctrines mean very little because they can change at will and many JWs will not even explain them. Only obedience to organization is paramount.

Jw's dont really care about doctrine do they?
by marriedtoajw init seems to me that jw's really don't care about doctrine.
ephesians chapter 4 verse 11 "and he gave some as apostles others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry for the building up of the body of christ until we attain the unity of faith and knowledge of the son of god to mature manhood to the extent of the full stature of christ so that we may no longer be in infants tost by waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery from their cunning in the interest of deceitful scheming".
is it just me or does this verse totally annihilate the doctrine or belief in new light.

by Iamallcool inthere is a girl that i like and she has been emailing me recently.
we have not met each other just yet.
she is jewish and she is very involved with jewish organizations, etc...should i be concerned about it?

Yeah, why not. I am married to Jew where Jewish background is more or less cultural than religous. I have met Jews as nice, intelligent, caring, and hard working people. They do not try to proselyte me or force me into their faith. They do not force me to observe their customs. So, go ahead and hope it works well for you.

99.9% Of a People Who Believe In Evolution Don't Understand It.
by Space Madness ini never believed in evolution as i thought it didn't make sense and that what was proposed was simply impossible.
how could an environment alter an organism's dna?
as we can see however, bacteria cannot become resistance to antibiotics.

SM, again I used your exact words and I agree with snare&racket on his responses. There is no agenda in evolution. YOU, only YOU had claimed that "but it is not due to animals adapting to the environment, which is impossible". Of course this is not true. All species are adapting into environment because environment is not stable and does not remain constant. Addionally your fallacy reasoning lies with idea that mutation in DNA is driven by command . DNA does mutates, often due external enviromental impulses like UV. You attempted to say that entire species will mutate with one biogenesis of the exposure and you had associated with somatic mutuation. My point was that drastic change of the ozone layer 10mil years ago which lasted for 100,000 had seen many generations of various species exposed to highlighted UV radiation. One generation after the another, where each subsequent biogenesis were exposed and the offspring had either died or adapt. Parent to child to grandchild(s) were all exposed and offspring whose DNA was less suspectible to UV light survived.
Evolution is taught in all world's leading universities and accepted by all mainstream religions including Catholic, Orthodox, Jewish, and Protestant churchses. Only the most extreme christian denominations that originated in USA and represent the most reactionary religion in modern era insist otherwise.

LisaRose and others,
There are DNA mutations due several factors one of it is UV light and other is natural radioactive decay. UV light on earth was never constant, some period it was much stronger causing mutation of DNA. Ozone layer also did not exist 600 millions year ago and prior, and there were several periods when it was destroyed due catastrophic even (supernova explosion or asteroid impact). UV does alter DNA which causes to species mutated. Natural decay does it as well. We are surrouned by it. The article from Curtis University states:
While radioactivity occurs naturally in our bodies as well as in every living organism across the planet, it was never before thought to affect our DNA in such a direct way. Using high-performance computers, the research team from Curtin and Los Alamos National Laboratory were able to show radioactivity could alter molecular structures which encode genetic information, creating new molecules that do not belong to the four-letter alphabet of DNA.
Of course there is someone who claims that DNA did not change nor there is mechanism to it. UV light, and alpha and beta decay are obviously irrelevant to that person.

I do not want to feed a troll..
but it is not due to animals adapting to the environment, which is impossible
Of course they do, but you will not listen any reasoning.. There thousands of books and articles and peer reviews on this topics. Additionally, you insist that environment does not alter DNA. Do you ever figured out what UV light does to DNA? Do you know that DNA was changed due UV in the past where ozone layer was much weaker...

2029 - the year NOBODY from 1914 will still be alive.
by EndofMysteries ingoing by the oldest verified by birth cert living person is 115 years old, in 15 years not only will not "millions now living will never die(1914)" be untrue, but even 1 single person now living will never die will be out.
i wonder what the spin will be then w/ the wt.
it's just around the corner, don't go to school, give us all your money and assets, it's happening real soon now.

Overlapping generations was already introduced generation ago when I walked away from the WT cult in 1994. I heard reasoning back then generation can represent multiple biogenesis that is made of multiple successive generations that is a witness of the same phenomena. For example Renaissance started in 1400 and lasted 200 years and anyone living in that period was a member of the Renaissance generation. This was explained back in CZ at that time and JW thought that it was awesome. In theory, WT can claim generation of 1914 to last several hundreds of years and decades after decades because human race was witness of the same changes that started with WWI.

What a diatribe. The evolution is well observed in the nature even within timespan of several thousands years. You make extremely grave mistake with your reasoning SM, when you insist that 1) species do not adapt 2) environment stays the same. Neither is is true. Environment is constantly changing and there were times in Earth's history when climate was much warmer, humid, and stable; or time when it was arid and dry, with extreme range of temperature; or not so recent ice age where glaciers covered much of the Northern Hemispehre. Mountains do change, they get uplifted or eroded, and with it extensive changes in environment like temperature, pressure, rain, weather pattern... The rate of uplift is well measured within the precession of a few mms and only <.???.> thinks that Rocky and Appalachian Mountains were the same for millions of years. Do you really think that species were always the same in West Virginia millions years ago when Alleghany plateau was the same sea level as is currently Tibet and Appalachians were as high as Himalayah? What happened to forests that covered the shores of the Tethys Sea, while today we have desert in Levant and Central Asia? What happened to flora, insects, and all the food chain when the environment had changed during the tectonic plate movements? Either they adapted or became exctinct. When the environment did changed so did its species. We do not see saber tooth cats and mammoths today because our temperature is much higher than was 10000 years ago, the food for them disappeared and they did not adapt. Why did bobcat survived the Ice Age and saber tooth cat did not?
Creationism is nothing more than fairy tale that was discussed by illiterate nomads around tribal fires who did not understand the world around them.

one reason for the dumbing down of the org
by Magnum ina lot of us have said that theres been a dumbing down in jw land.
its just not like it used to be especially a few decades ago.
it seems to me that if jw are right and the end of the world is near, the spiritual food should get tastier and more nourishing as time goes on, but it's getting more and more bland and less nourishing.

As I had noticed, the quality of JW knowledge in the Bible is way down from my time there 25 years ago. When I talk to my parents and relatives, they seem to lack the knowledge what is written in NT & OT as they had back than. My mom is still alright, but she knows more on what is written in WT publication than what is written in Bible. My relatives and sibling are even worse. The quality of biblical education within JW frame went down since they bannished private small bible studies. The literature was dumbed down to match the demantia of the elderly population and the lower IQ of the others. I do not think WT would be capable to bring high quality book like Commentary to James as we had 30 years ago to present WT population.

a little under a year ago, both of us were disfellowshipped for sexual immorality.
while it was difficult, we promised to stick together through it, work our way toward marraige, and eventually return.

startingover, you are better off. In JW world marriage and healthy relationship are secondary, the organization is foremost and with it comes all time, privacy, and dedication. While it hurts at the beginning, in longer term in you will be better off. There is no need for you to be in threeway relationship with the borg.
