There is no denying for many of as ex-JW that there were some good points which I kept even after WT like smoking. I never smoke once cigarette in my life. I was not even trying after WT. If WT were channel of God's communication, they would have non-smoking policy since 1874, but this came 100 years later!

JWs have more good points than bad
by lsw1961 in1) many who were on the destructive path have been transformed by their teachings (this includes me who was once vicious, and presumptuous and atheistic).
2) equal monthly pay to all members of the bethel community regardless of whether they are bc members or sweepers.
this is something that still remains as an unattainable dream for the world.

In your case, you are not enjoying your lives even after coming out of JWs as you are still worrying about what JWs are doing and attacking them relentlessly..
Funny and entertaining. JW have according census in my native country the lowest income from all registered religious groups, highest poverty rate (even gypsies are ahead of JW), and lowest educational achievement. No other socio-demographic group in the country is on the bottom as Jehovah Witnesses.
The sweetest revenge for any ex-JW is successful, happy, and fulfilling life after KH and not slaving for publishing house stuck in 19th century mindset.

Retirement Planning for ex-JW's
by Simon inthis is something i think about a lot, possibly because i'm just getting older.
it seems that not only should i finally one day decide what i want to do with my life, but i should also be planning for retirement.. hands up everyone who feels their future has been royally screwed by the wts experience?.
if you were a good jw and followed the wts advice you could well be finding yourself facing middle or even old age without much or anything put aside in retirement savings.

There is a huge truth for people not divorce if they want to build a wealth. The only winner in the divorce is gold digger, but common divorce, division of equity, layers, moving, etc, it its grenade on your finances. Two people manage better expenses, utilities, housing, and tax deduction.

Jeb Bush only shows his lack of education on European political affairs. While A.H was the master mind behind WWII, National Socialism, and Holocaust; Fascism did not originated with Germany. Actually Horty's Hungary was fascist country since 1919 followed by Italy. If A.H would stay as a painter, the world would be a better place, but there is no guarantee that WWII would be avoided. Stalin and communists is a much responsible for WWII as Germany. -

Expenses on 401K, ROTH IRA, and Mutual funds do indeed eat a significant portion of the saving. Bank interests on deposits are ridiculously low. Also there is not guarantee on 7% growth on specific funds. Even BRIC funds are big losers, and they barely generate growth on long term due volatility. 7% return on investment is desirable, but difficult to achieve consistently. Vanguard and Fidelity have a good index funds matching overall economy and they have so far the best return. Also today's 1 million will have purchasing power of 625,000 in 25 years or so. -

For investment, take advantage of index funds. Either from Vanguard or from Fidelity Sparta. They are low cost and not been matched by other funds. They have a solid return over LONG term.

My advice to financial well being is:
- Do not spent money you do not have
- Build a rainy day fund
- Drive car until repairs became liability
- Take advantage of 401K and max it
- Put extra money to Roth IRA
- Buy a house you can afford on one income
- Don't buy shit you do not need
- Keep in mind, even if you cut your expenses to zero, your income will not go up by a cent
- Do not neglect your health, it will become costly
- Stop smoking or drinking out. Have martini at home instead spending $12 on happy hour with your coworkers
- Learn how to fix stuff around the house yourself, but let pluming and electric cables to professionals
- Enjoy life and learn how to spent your hard earned money wisely

Possible reason for cancellation of book study in homes.
by Amelia Ashton inthis was posted on fb.. so guys, i'm gonna share something with you all that i think you should know.
i've only told two people about this (one being john cedars) for fear of getting this guy into trouble, but it's very telling and will reaffirm your "ttatt faith!
a couple of weeks ago, i had to have an "ability to protect" assessment by a gentleman from a company that also investigates child protection policies etc.

I could think that the reason is people getting critical to the food provided by FDS during home studies. I remember in the late 1980's or around 1990 was given directive, where individuals were barred from bible studies at home. Back as a teen we had several people getting together and studied some biblical texts and verses and than headed out to FS or home study. Some of the bible studies were questioning WT doctrines. Later we were told that we cannot study bibles on our own in study group because it would lead to apostasy. -

There is no advise for her without 1) leaving the cult 2) filling divorce on her own term 3) with a knowledge that she will be shunned forever.
You have to understand that with WT there is no compromise or middle ground. If she remains with WT even after possible divorce, her life and your with it will revolve around KH, WT, and everything. You will not have easy and happy marriage. The advice I said and other too, said it all. Run. It is like a person from free western democracy decides to move into communist regime like USSR, and hoping he can enjoy the sight, while maintaining his or her western freedom. Impossible combination.

Disfellowshipping Spree In My Congregation
by jw07 ini just was looking back at a group photo on social media from exactly one year ago.. there are 12 persons in it, and since last year 3 of those persons in that photo have been disfellowshipped, plus one more not in the photo.
so that's a total of 4 persons from my congregation of a little over 100 publishers.. unfortunately 3 are back at the meetings and taking the shunning, but one seems to be fully awake and has disappeared completely.. that's the most persons i recall being disfellowshipped in my congregation in such a short while.
usually it's like 1 every 2 or 3 years.. i wouldn't mind seeing more people leaving.. there are currently 3 persons who i wonder about.

In Czech Republic, there was a huge DFs around 1996, when the branch got new light regarding alternative military service. Back then, in drafted armed forces of the country, the alternative was prison, coal mines, or alternative service (mostly in hospice or old folk homes). Initially, WT supported alternative service between 1989 and 1996, but when the flip-flop doctrine was implemented, massive DFs was implemented across many KH in the Czech Republic. I left WT several years prior that, but in 1996-1997 up to 8% of males were DFs on spot for refusing to leave already performing alternative service. Violation would mean prison and criminal record. It still baffled me, why some of the men returned into WT after all these BS they went through, having their personal life destroyed by flip-flop doctrine, and having permanent criminal record.
