Additional info from my mom about all this BS. My cousin told her that she has weak faith and she could find herself unprepared as the virgins in the Mat 25:1-13. So instead awaiting arrival of bridegroom, she would be laying somewhere on recovery room in rehab facility. -

Yeah, it is crazy cult. I had visited my mom last month and find out that she suppose to have hip surgery, but my cousins told her that she is wasting time for it because "A" is about to happen. My mom is in pain for a while so I was pushing her to see specialist. When I talked to her about the surgery, she told me she cancelled and she does not even have money post- surgery rehab, because she donated them in June/July on the convention. My cousins said to her, that she would miss a chance if "A" is happening and she will be recovering somewhere in the spa resort. So my mom cancelled all the doctor appointments. I spent entire day with social services to get her to the surgery and if all goes well, she would have one next month.
My cousins also initiated study with my niece and they keep pushing to her that is 101 years since Jesus rule, and she should get baptized in order to survive the storm. Last time I remember my cousins were crazies in the end stage of this world was in the 1989's. It was 70 years since 1919, and they would insist that "A" will be that year!

"Suicide for me is one of the most tragic events on the planet. Not just a waste of life but how could the person possibly not see that he/she would get over the problem eventually, that there are people who are concerned for them and will do everything possible to help? That's the real tragedy."
Suicide is issue that is very little debated, but it affects so many families. Many times, it solved permanently temporary issues. However, not all suicides are the same, there is also a deep cultural context (some societies are prone to high level suicides like East Asia, Eastern Europe, and Scandinavia). For many people it was a way to end pain/illness and leave a world with dignity. I had a good, close friend who chose this path. He had a renal disease that was causing him unbelievable pain and at the end he was disabled on dialysis machine. Before his suicide he wrote me very nice long letter, his farewell, and ended his life. His girlfriend told me that he was in so much pain that his suicide was liberation for him. He was no more suffering.

I am in process writing my master's thesis. I got to 3500 words in the summer and I still have 5000 words to go on top of my presentation, graphics, tables, studies. I cannot imagine to write more than 10000 words. -

My cousins told my mom that the "A" is coming and will most likely happen this fall because it is 101 years when Jesus started to rule. My mom has surgery scheduled in October they told her not to go, because she may miss a chance to live in paradise, while she is recovering in hospital. I was a kid in 1975, and I remember when my JW aunt told as that we do not have to go to school because "A" is coming. 40 years later, she is dead. -

This happens all the time. Especially, if you get a new priest or preacher and old-timers are not happy. Generally, the congregation waits for the natural, biological way to deal with the issue, but sometimes the priest/congregation would eventually get tired of the old-timers and expel them out. In the link you had on the church, one person posted in the discussion that this old lady was disruptive and majority of the church goers agreed to have her removed from the congregation. -

8. Apocrypha were removed after Reformation, but this was not universal among Christendom. For example Eastern Churches use apocrypha. Some Catholic and Protestant denominations bordering with Eastern Churches (Kingdom of Bohemia, Poland, and Hungary), had Apocrypha included in their bibles. However, in generally Western Protestants did not believed that these books were inspired and were one source of ideological clash during Reformation in the 16th century. Catholic church publishes Bibles either with them or without them. -

My mom does not believe in the overlapping generation and she knows she will not see the "A". She is 79 and spent most of her life in WT cult. She also told me that explanation of overlapping generation is BS unsupported in the Bible. But my siblings and cousins believe in it as done deal. -

New light!, says JW-Archive. The inspired word can have mistranslations, says Dec 2015 WT

Caleb, you are right on this. In the Renaissance, the bible translations from Vulgata to many European languages were performed. For example Czech translations were already done in the 1480's and scholars both Catholics and Protestants were not happy with the outcome. Czech Protestants eventually hired Jewish scholars to get the translation done from original language and skipping Vulgata altogether, which became known as Kralice Bible. Catholics did not agree with this translation, and created new one in the 17th century under Jesuit guidelines.
So we are not only talking about reshaping the text before canonization, but making mistakes once the texts were finalized not only via copying but in the translation process into other languages.
Now it also crucial that languages change and develop through the centuries, so spoken language in 1550 is far different from language today. Even Latin and Greek language went through development stage during Antiquity. The Classical Latin evolved in Medieval and later Renaissance until its usage among educated scholars declined in the Enlightenment. At the end, there is not really any perfect Bible translation.

Mistranslation in the Bible exist for 15 centuries. During medieval times when only handful bibles were in existence and often available only to the royal family, there were already disputes on translation and meaning of the text. Therefore, often secondary text occurred immediately after the major edition. This problem became more prevalent when Greek and Latin bibles were translated into local languages starting in the 15th century.
WT bibles will follow the same issues that faced medieval scholars in the monasteries rewriting and copying old test into a new Bible. I often looking into different translations of the bible online, because the differences in the text can be significant.
