I dont care about Xmas and BD. I like Halloween and other holidays like Easter. And I would not return to the KH and the Borg. It is cult and false, twisted religion that destroyed lives of many.

Or try 144 years ago when Ch. T. Russell started his crazy religious movement:
- Germany was about to be unified, completed in January 1871
- Ecumenical Council declared the infallibility of the Pope, Taze seen it as sign of Devil
- Paris sieged by Prussians
- Reconstruction Era in USA
Most of the adustls in 1870 were dead by 1914 considering life expectancy was 48.

Shunning in JW world is extensive and involves even people who are lukewarm and semi-active. My cousins shuns my mom even she is in truth and very active for 40 years, but they feel that she must be punished for me fading out from KH. One pioneer woman shun her grandchildren because her son had affair with another woman while he was married and made her pregnant. She decided to punish her DF son and his kids by shunning them. Think about that these kids were age 3 and 6 and she would not even acknowledge them on the street while they were calling for granny. Shunning also extend beyond the grave for JWs who died but were not seen as zealot for the truth when alive. Shunning never extend to anyone whose faith borderline with mental disability but is sooooo into the truth that evertying is forgiven.

What do Mark, Luke, and Paul all have in common?

I knew about Luke and Paul since JW times, but I did not know about Mark. However, it is well known that Mark, Luke, and Matthew used the same source when they wrote the Gospel. I have heard and read in the past that letter of Paul are written before the gospels, especially before Luke and John.

Do you believe that we are living in the last days, and why?
by new light init has been a long time.. thanks to jw.org, i was reading some jw material (what does the bible teach i believe).
it was the first time reading a "book study" book in many years and i was blown away by the controlling, cultish writing.
this question especially struck me as manipulative: do you believe that we are living in the last days, and why?.

Every generation believed that they lived in the last days. Every single one. When Alaric sacked Rome in 410, Christians throughout the known world thought that the end was imminent and Jesus will return to replace defeated imperial power. Augustine wrote City of God, and Jerome was figuring out what to do. 1600 years later, some obscure cult claims the same. The end is comming, but individiually for every one of us.

I am back at school to complete my masters, so not much free time. Last year to go. I studied masters years back in topic that my employer paid partially as benefit for my work. I decided to start again in topic I like, so I need to survive one more year of it. While I love to study, I do not like schools. I been always nerd and good student (never had B in my class, never both under and postgrad), but I do not like campus settings, lectures, and writting articles. I like learning new things, I wish I could learn another masters in mathematics, maybe in retirement just for fun.
I love gardening on my backard. Planting blooming shrubs, and turning my place into small oases of peace and tranquality.

I would advice working on your masters that you are about to complete and you can start having baby. You can finish your masters in 4 month pregnancy. Having child at your age is nothing wrong, and the medical prenatal care is excellent than was 20-30 years ago. But I recommend do not postpone your pregnancy. As long you can have your first child by age 35 you will be fine.

Prologos, I would also add meagera.
In my KH all elder wifes were b.ches. Both of my cousins wifes are b.ches who lie and are dishonest. They shun entire JW family from my mom side and deny that we are related. This was case as far I remember as kid (My cousins are 10 years older than I). Elderette of my primary elder was neurotic, emotionally unstable, abused her kids, compulsive, and perfectionalist. Other wifes were immitating the same roles. You could see them sitting up front in the KH, always treated like nobility. These women were different from other women that I like and were really nice. I called these women gray mouses, because these were women who were either widows or did not had JW husbands and were treated by the elderettes as second class JWs.

Did Josephus believe in Jesus as The Christ?
by opusdei1972 inhere is the questioned josephus' text :.
now, there was about this time jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful worksa teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure.
he drew over to him both many of the jews, and many of the gentiles.

If you want to read writting on Josephus, I would recommed Loeb Classical Library which has parallel greek texts with english ones and you can decide on it on yourself.
