Christian religious leaders say that we shouldn't blame God when something bad happens. It's Satan causing these bad things to happen. But then when a disaster does occur, they say it was God's punishment for the sinful ways of humans. For example, Russian Orthodox patriarchs are saying that the recent floods in the Baltics were caused by God as punishment because a bearded drag queen won a singing contest in the EU. So which is it? Are bad things that destroy human life caused by Satan or God? Of course the real answer is that calamities happen just by chance.....no supernatural entity 'causes' them to happen.

My wife is never going to wake up.
by marriedtoajw inwhat do you do when you believe in your heart that your spouse is never going to wake up to the tatt?
when you're sick of the cherade of pretending you can deal with the spiritual division when you dont think you can anymore.
when you're convinced that your spouse is so decieved she is lost in a desert and is fine with living by the mirage.

That's a difficult situation with no easy answers. My only suggestion is to ask her questions about things in the JW policies that make no logical sense. Just casually ask her what she thinks about the new donation arrangement, for example. Maybe ask what she thinks about the DOs being thrown under the bus. Stay away from questions about the Bible because you will just get the standard pre-programmed answers. Ask questions that make her THINK, that have no ready-made replies. Ask about 'new light' and how it contradicts 'old light'.....was the old light true or false in former years. Who's to say if today's 'true' doctrines are still going to be true 20 years from now. Does Jehovah keep changing his mind? Anyway, that may help her come out of her Watchtower fog. I wish you the best.

JW 2014 YouTube Documentary
by kneehighmiah ini had an idea.
i was reading about the success of the kony 2012 video and was wondering if anyone would be interested in making a documentary to coincide with the international conventions and the 100 year anniversary of gods kingdom.
the video would be less than 30 minutes long.

Sounds like a good idea, if done in a quality way. Probably most of the general public couldn't care less about the doings of JWs, but an intellectually curious subset might find a documentary interesting. Your proposal is cettainly worth promoting. Count me in as a supporter.

Would You Become A JW Again If Local Congregations Could Become Independent?
by Space Madness infor those who still believe in god, if local congregations could break away from the watchtower would you consider becoming a witness again.
this would mean no more governing body, circuit overseers, watchtower magazines, and each congregation could have its own "new light".
most of us left because of the control (no college, disfellowsipping) but if the watchtower was out of the picture, all of this would disappear.

What would then be left to believe? Would we have to go back to the 'pure' teachings of Charles Taze Russell? That would put to rest the insane ravings of Rutherford and Fred Franz. But if the traditional Christian mainstream doctrines were used instead, why not just close up shop and join an established church?? A congregation with the Watchtower Corporation would just be an empty shell with no reason to exist.

Sorry, I don't have it. But you can be 100% certain it contains the same idiotic drivel we've been hearing for decades. Worthless, repetitive nonsense geared to making better salespeople for the corporation.

Scared I'll Never be Happy Again

Hello, Your post was very honest and sincere. I would recommend going to places where you can meet intelligent, friendly and open- minded people. One place you might check out, if there is one where you live, is a Unitarian church. It's the EXACT opposite of the JWs. There is no dogma or belief system you must adhere to. You are free to discover your OWN beliefs that fit who YOU are. The topics are very diverse and interesting. At my local church we have speakers from a variety of faith and non-faith traditions. You won't be pressured to join or conform. You can wear whatever you like....no strict dress code like the JWs. Anyway, just a suggestion based on my experiences. I wish you the best.

Regarding the debate about the so-called 'correct name' of 'god'.....Jehovah vs. Yahweh : Who really gives a rat's ass? It's all made-up nonsense anyway. It's not like there are NO OTHER PROBLEMS in the world for people to be concerned with!!! Please grow up, People!!!

Taking my sister to church this Sunday!!!
by confusedandalone inso yesterday i stopped by my sisters home and decided to just hang out and shoot the breeze... she was telling me that since she has stopped going to the kingdom hall (the last 9 months) she still looks for things to do on sunday.
she feels she should go and do something and she likes the idea of church.
it seems fun and will giove her a place to meet people.

If the Baptist church doesn't fill the need, I would recommend checking out a Unitarian church. They have no specific beliefs that all members must adhere to. They have speakers from various faith traditions. Unitarians accept anyone including gays, pagans, transexuals, Humanists, atheists, etc. And they are very environmentally Aware. Anyway, just a suggestion.

My Story
by objectivetruth ini'm 30 years old, and i was raised in the organization, my parents and grandparents are witnesses.. i grew up in a small town, and due to boredom or adhd or rebellion, i never took 2 minutes to look into the religion.. i always went to meetings and field service.
my parents were regular, but never "super-witnesses" so it was always the thing we did (meetings and service) not much more and nothing less.. the congregation, that i grew up in was for the most part friendly and enjoyable.. small towns, are very unique and they cannot be compared to larger city congregations.. i honk that they are a living and breathing organism, depending on the coordinators personality, so goes the personality of the congregation.
thi king back, most of the people in the town that i grew up were good people, just simple hard working & honest people... i really long for the innocence, of the time when this was the truth, and there were no worries.. driving to the conventions at 3 am with my dad and another brother, them slicing meat, me sneaking around the halls of the college, getting into all kinds of things.. conventions were a really special time for me... when i was young me and my friends would run around, messing around, pulling pranks on people, getting into forbidden areas.. running in the hall ways.
