i got into a discussion with a jw on another board and she says it may be ok to go into voting booth to avoid danger but it 3was forbidden to actually vote for a candidate.

When I got in, the 1975 thing was just a bunch of rumours and big unknowns... (believe me, I asked). They never told me what it was really like... only that some people went off the deep end, and it was a 'sifting work'. They really downplayed how crazy those bastards were, and focused on the future. Throw in some brain disfunction (depression), and I was hooked. Not until I was out of the org (and went against the elders and got help for my depression) did I learn the real truth about these events.

i heard that after a jw has been disfellowshipped, elders will still periodically visit the person, once a year?, to see if his situation has changed and might be interested in studying again.
my question is, what if a jw disassociated himself?
some elders i have been avoiding for 10+ years discovered where i live and tried to visit me.

I don't have the answers that you want. What I would suggest though is to send them another letter, explain that you do not want them to ever stop by or contact you, and leave it at that. They will usually respect your wishes.
IMO, legal wranglings are a waste of time.

My understanding is they made it out to be a conscience matter, then hurredly changed they're minds and had another flash of 'light' from 'jehoober' about it, and cleared the air and said no.

In order to have faith, you must have faith in that person. Let's say that your friend has picked you up at the same time for work for a week... you have faith that that person will pick you up at the same time.
Now take the bible, for instance. A book of goobleygook (good word for it) that not only contradicts itself, but happily explains how people should kill they're children, men, women... that doesn't make sense. Throw in some baloney about wars and nation rising against nation, and you have it. What you need to find out is do you believe that the bible is from god? Is it true?
You know and I know it isn't.
Another example of circular reasoning. When you program in Excel, you get an error message when you use circular formulas. When it's the bible, people just don't give a damn and keep on having faith.
