yesterday evening my wife and i were invited to friends house for new year's eve.
we met them when i was a christian and we have kept in touch.
they had a few other friends there as well, including the new church pastor and his wife.

The literal number of only 144,000 doesn't fit the number of "true Christians" that could have actually been alive during the Watchtower's timeline. Only 144,000 from Jesus's time until now?.....yeah right. Besides most "anointed" JW's are just too weird. some friends familiar with wt gossip have told me that the decision to move out of ny was in part accelerated by the tragic events of 9/11.. my take on this is that decision to relocate was made a long time before, however they counter that a move was planned but not the total detachment that is occurring.. i wonder if anyone here has an opinion or information on this.. thanks.

More than false promises, flip-flopping doctrine or anything else......the thing that first got me thinking that there is no way the Watchtower can be God's chosen people was the very high porportion of dysfunctional familes in the religion. Yes....too few "normal people" and very many "weirdos".

Love the "old light" at the end where it refers to the anointed remnant as the F&DS. The Watchtower Society has made their bullshit up as they go along for over 100 years now. Soon as their Legal Dept can figure out a way to drop the no blood doctrine without bringing massive lawsuits against the Cult for wrongful death because of their bat-shit crazy theology, then the Watchtower will announce new light to allow blood transfusions.

B. Speak to those elders that they are not to text your wife.
C. Tell the CO to have them stop texting your wife, because you are the head of the house and that many affairs have started this way. He also knows it's wrong and it will embarrass them that he has to talk to them about it.

when i was an active jw the constant demands for loyalty and obedience to the gb used to really annoy me, and mrs phizzy.. why on earth do they do it in such a shrill, screaming and obvious way ?.
they sound like spoilt kids, "you must play the game our way".. it was partly that constant harping that really helped me to wake up, i came to see just how much they had usurped the place of jesus.. surely it is counter-productive to do the demands as they do, loud and blatant.
they could get the same results with a seemingly humble attitude, after all, the new pope is the vicar of christ by title, but he comes over as humble..
Why do the Governing Body do it ?
That's a very good question. I remember how weird and wrong it felt when the Governing Body this & that first started appearing in every meeting & prayer. Many people have reported being stumbled by this, so you think they would back off on allowing this, but they obviously love the worship from the JW's. In the end it's all about CULT CONTROL.
for those of you who have a minute to read this, here is a report from my family trip.. i was in florida for the holidays visiting my older sister and family, along with my parents which were also visiting.. although i've had conversations with my mother about the organization, my sister and her family had no idea of my position in regards to the (un)truth - perhaps because we live far away from each other.
i knew the day was coming.... on my second day there, the whole family was sitting around bs-ing about different stuff, and as usual my mother starts with the "world is getting worse by the day" conversation, followed by approving nods and smart remarks from the rest of the family.
i then politely told them that this was not true, that in fact the world has never been better.
