After 34 years of searching for God in almost every faith you can name.. I personally have never ever found him in or even remotely connected to any religious organisation. Or Jesus for that matter. The only times I have ever felt anything that could be called 'feeling God', I have always every single time totally been alone and separate from any type of group or society.
Acts 17:27 says it all for me.
New International Version
"God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us."
Nothing about any organisation or group and society and gang or what ever. It's all individual. If God can be found at all.. then it must be done alone. You need nothing and no one.

How Jehovah's Witnesses benefit those humble enough to study the Bible with them.
by Stand for Pure Worship inexcellent material can be found within the reasoning book, page 328, para.2, 3. occasionally, i see posters make presumptuous comments like, "all you need is the bible", or, "i'm born-again, so there's no need for spiritual assistance from another christian", or,"i'm saved", or my favorite, "jesus talks to me directly.
" on one hand, i can't be overly critical of such ones because they do attempt to read and understand the bible on their own.
(acts 17:11) not to mention they're generally peaceable folks, just self-misguided when erroneously believing that they can go it alone.

This is absolute rubbish.
There are many well documented cases where individuals of faith have been incarcerated and spent decades in jail and even solitary confinement. They had no organisation, no society, no meetings, no books, no association, no magazines, nothing. Yet they happily and firmly maintained and remained loyal to their faith the entire time.
So SFPW you are lying.
And does not the society and God himself list Job as one of the moist faithful men that has ever lived. Yet he too lived and exercised his faith in complete isolation. Not even his close friends or wife supported him.
You are very, very wrong SFPW.
Nothing is needed to maintain faith but faith itself.
On the other hand to maintain 'faith' in a false religion such as then one mentioned in this thread an entire array of complex, contradictory and false ideas and fake belief systems some serious brain washing is required.
To achieve this you need a Society, an organisation, endless repetitively mind numbing, thought process killing meetings where both the questions and answers are provided to you in what is falsely termed 'study', a steady stream of extremely rigid, narrow and seriously dumbed down literature that insults and abuses your intelligence, endless petty and ridiculous stifling man-made rules designed to keep you in a constant state of guilt, inadequacy, failure and worthlessness. Add to that nothing but association and contact with hundreds of other moronic, conceited, self satisfied individuals at various levels of robotic brainwashed behaviourand you have the perfect recipe for faith in that false religion.. not to mention some very serious mental health issues.
Yep that will certainly do it. -

Lead us? Why do people need to be led? The society is obsessed about leading people and organising their lives for them. Sounds like communism.
I would not want to be 'led' by anyone. My thoughts about the new system have always been to get as far away from people as is possible. I'd dissapear up a mountain, build my own shack, grow my own food and leave humanity well alone for a good while.

The Watchtower and the Masons
by ozziepost inthe latest edition of the free in christ ministries journal contains a very interesting article entitled the watchtower and masons.. drawing upon material from the book the watchtower & the masons by fritz springmeier, it gives the following parallels between the things that c t russell believed and those taught by the masons:.
* both believe jehovah is the most important word being the basis of their dogma, and the name of their god.
* both believe god yielded power to a lesser god.

Wow this is a very revealing thread. Just as witnesses are unable and both unwilling to think or consider anything that's outside their narrow radius of knowledge and experience many ex-witnesses are just as narrow, ignorant, prejudiced and suffer from self imposed blindness. This intellectual flippancy is just so sad to see, especially in here. But not really surprising. Ridiculing other peoples views, the biting sarcasm, insulting comments, attempts at humiliating individuals merely for having different views and an open mind is so quite dissapointing. Just an observation.

Probably the most bizarre encounter with a witness family.
by Dis-Member inwent to a bar with a friend a few days ago.. we were sitting in the outside garden and i went back inside to get another round.
on my way back out i passed some tables with a family of about 6 or 7 people sitting and celebrating a birthday.. i overheard the name jehovah mentioned and i stopped and asked if they were witnesses to which one of them replied 'yes'.. we got into conversation about the latest watchtowers and the governing body.
none of them had a clue what i was talking about.. they new nothing of the 8 men brooklyn being the faithful and discreet slave, nothing about c.t russell or rutherford, nothing of how jesus came and selected them as his chosen people in 1914-19, in fact the only thing they knew about 1914 was that that was when the first world war started, nothing about malawi and mexico, never heard of candace conti or any of the sex abuse scandals, nothing about the 2 witness rule, nothing about the elders being chosen by the holy spirit, nothing about 'new light', nothing about the orgs involvement with the un, nothing about the blood fractions changes they knew almost nothing at all about the majority of their own organisations core teachings.

AN INTERESTING THOUGHT EXPERIMENT
by Terry intriplets are born in a remote village in a third world country.. the parents are killed in a massacre and the children end up separated into three different orphanages.. through sheer circumstance each is adopted by deeply religious parents only to grow up, one as a jew, one as a muslim and one as an atheist in a christian family.. by means of an unaccountable coincidence, all three board the same airliner for a flight to los angeles.. the airliner encounters terrible weather and crash lands in the ocean while trying to make a landing at lax.. air sea rescue teams are able to save the lives of only three passengers.. yes--the triplets!.
injured and traumatized in the crash, they are transported to cedar-sinai hospital for medical treatment.. at some point in all the excitement and news coverage, some bright soul notices each of the injured survivors is identical in appearance.
an already extraordinary news event suddenly goes viral as investigation turns up all the known facts.. three families converge in the hospital waiting room and confront each other asking obvious questions and sorting things out for themselves.. within a week the three crash survivors are conscious and able to sit up.

Great brain teaser but quite easy to solve.
All 3 had been raised with very different nutritional habits in different parts of the world. It would be fairly easy with DNA testing to ascertain what diet each individual had lived on and in what part of the world then identification as to who was who would not be a problem.
